Following is a note from Sally West, spokesperson for Cream of the West Flour at the time of publication of this book. Dear Friends, The Treasury of Newfoundland Stories has been a labour of love on the part of many people. And it has been particularly close to my heart, because I have ready every story sent ot us, and have worked closely with our editor, Mr. L. W. Janes, as he selected the stories which could be included in the book. I want to thank Mr. Janes for giving us the benefit of his great knowledge of Newfoundland's past, and also to Mr. Don Jamieson and radio station CJON, for their help in bringing you the news about the Treasury. And, above all, I want to thank each of our contributors for the
stories they so kindly sent to us. I am sure every Newfoundlander
can share my pride in this Treasury, and the fact that it is completely
authentic, written by Newfoundlanders themselves. The people from
all over this island who have sent us their stories, and whose names
are listed on the following pages, are the ones who have made this
book possible, and we think all Newfoundlanders will appreciate the
very fine work they have done. ![]() |
