HAND, Ernest - Passed peacefully away at the D.V.A. Caribou Pavilion, St.
John's, on Tuesday, September 7, 2004, Ernest Hand of New Chelsea, age 86
years. Leaving to mourn wife Luetta, New Chelsea and their children: Josie,
Keith, Eddy, Judy, Carol, John, Nelda, Danny, Bonnie and Jimmy; twenty-two
grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law: Doris Trimm,
Phyllis Trimm, Minnie Critch and Ivy Ranger; also a large circle of nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Green's Funeral Home,
Winterton. Visiting hours Thursday and Friday, 2-5 pm and 7-10 pm, Saturday,
10 am - 12 Noon. Funeral service to take place at 2 pm from Green's Funeral
Home, Winterton. Cremation to follow. A private family inurnment will be held at
a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one's
choice.
HEATH, Sandra (nee Miller) - October 2, 1949 - June 27, 2004. Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Complex on Sunday, June 27, 2004, Sandra Heath of Islington, formerly of Mount Pearl and Bell Island, aged 54 years. Predeceased by her parents: Harold and Jean Miller and husband: John. Leaving to mourn: Eddie Chislett; children: John and Laura, Matthew and Stephanie; grandchildren: John, Stephanie and Devon; three brothers and one sister: Jean, Harold (Joyce), Frazer (Shirley) and Kenneth; Also a number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Resting at St. Matthew's Church Hall, Islington from Monday, June 28, at 2:00 pm until time of funeral which will be held from St. Matthew's Church, Heart's Delight on Wednesday, June 30 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Rd., St. John's. As expressions of sympathy flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to St. Matthew's Memorial Fund, Heart's Delight - Islington. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home, Dildo.
HIGDON, Emma Louise (nee Hefford) - Passed away suddenly but peacefully
at her son's residence in Blaketown on Sunday, October 3, 2004, Emma Higdon
of New Harbour, aged 81 years. Predeceased by husband Alfred (1993), parents
Emmanuel and Susannah Hefford; sisters Hilda and Mary; brothers Robert,
Leonard and Ernest. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories: Son
Lloyd (Vina) Blaketown; granddaughter Nancy (Tim Jackson), Cavendish;
grandson Gerry (Melissa), New Harbour; great-grandson Tyler Jackson and
great-granddaughters Kylie and Maddison Jackson; sisters-in-law Melina
Newhook and Ethel Higdon and brother-in-law Doug Newhook; a large number
of nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends. Resting at Warren's
Funeral Home, Dildo with visitation Monday 6:00 p.m. until time of Funeral
which will be held from St. Augustine's Church, New Harbour on Wednesday,
October 6, at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at St. Augustine's Cemetery. As

HYNES, Douglas Lloyd - Passed away peacefully at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital
on Monday, December 20, 2004, after a brief illness, Douglas Lloyd Hynes
(WWII Veteran, Royal Navy) in his 83rd year. Born in Port-au-Port and formerly
of Clarenville. He is survived by his wife Marion of 54 years; his daughter
Beverly Donovan (Mark), Ottawa; three sisters: Olive (Scott Shears), Rocky
Harbor, Brenda (Don Roberts), Stephenville, and Pat (Jim Bard), Ohio;
predeceased by sister: Marie (Cecil Hunt), Fort McMurray. Also leaving to
mourn nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral
Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm Wednesday. Funeral
service to be held from Barrett's Chapel on Thursday, December 23, 2004 at 2:00
p.m. Interment to follow at the Field of Honor, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Donations
in his memory may be made to the Newfoundland Cancer Treatment and
Research Center or Radio Station VOWR. Please visit www.barretts.ca to sign

HOPKINS, Kevin Boyd - Passed away suddenly at Scarborough, ON, Kevin
Boyd Hopkins, age 47 years, formerly of Old Perlican, NL. Predeceased by his
parents George and Eliza Hopkins. Leaving to mourn his fiancee Denise Collins,
Scarborough, ON; sisters: Ann Martin (Hank), St. John's, Brenda Hunt
(Wilfred), Kilbride, Beverly Hopkins of Calgary, AB; brothers: Joseph Junior of
Nanaimo, BC, Neville of Burnt Point, NL. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial
Service in Kevin's honour will take place at a later date. A special thank you to
Odgen Funeral Home in Agincourt, ON, for their kindness and consideration.
IVANY, Weldon H. - Passed peacefully away on December 15th, 2004 at the
James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, Weldon H. Ivany, aged 84 years.
Predeceased by his wife Daphne. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving
memories are his son Derick (Doreen) of Orleans, ON; daughter Gloria (Patrick
Penney) of Gander, NL; grandchildren: Noleen, Paddy, Erinn and Christopher;
great-grandchildren: Ryan, Gabriel and Dylan; brother Ralph (Evelyn) of
Montreal, QC and sister-in-law Daisy Ivany of Clarenville; as well as a number
other relatives and friends. Resting at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander on
Thursday, December 16th, 10 a.m. - 12 noon, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
and Friday, December 17th, 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Funeral service will be held on
Friday, December 17th at 1 p.m. from Fraser Road United Church, Gander.
Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery, Gander. Flowers gratefully accepted

JACOBS, Simeon Ingvauld, June 29, 1911 - March 8, 2004 - Passed peacefully
away at the Carbonear General Hospital, Palliative Care Unit on Monday,
March 8, 2004, Simeon Ingvauld Jacobs of Heart's Delight, aged 92 years.
Predeceased by daughter Mary Louise. Leaving to mourn his forever loved
wife of 63 years, Marjorie Sheila (nee Wiseman); four children: Willis, Donna
(Bernard) Kieley, Sharon (Clarence) Reid, Shirley (Allan) Bishop; fourteen
grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; also loving remembered by sister
Annie Lambert; also a large circle of extended family and friends. Resting at
the SUF Lodge Heart's Delight from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of funeral.
The funeral service will be held from Bethel United Church, Heart's Delight
on Thursday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Bethel United
Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted

IVANY, Violet - Passed away at James Paton Memorial Hospital in
Gander on September 2nd, 2004, Violet Ivany, aged 73 years. Mrs.
Ivany is predeceased by husband Wallace; sister-in-law Princie Stanley
and brother-in-law Chesley White. Left with loving memories are
daughters: Carol and Austin Adams of Shoal Hr., NL, Marlie Ivany and
Craig Dunn of Gander, Susan Ivany and Paul Edwards of Gander; brother
Wilson of Clarenville; sisters: Dulcie and Melvin Ivany of Winterbrook,
Sadie White of St. John's; grandchildren: Jason (Karla), Justin (Heather),
Kelly, Sara, Nicholas; great-grandchild Parket and a large circle of other
relatives and friends. Resting at Stacey's Funeral Home in Gander on
Friday, September 3rd from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Inurnment will be at the
United Cemetery in Clarenville, Saturday at 2 p.m. Donations may be
made to the Central Northeast Health Foundation, Gander. Arrangements
entrusted to the care of Stacey's Funeral Home Ltd., Gander.
JOHNSON, Alva - After her courageous fight with cancer, passed peacefully
away at Health Sciences Centre, St. John's on April 5, 2004, Alva Johnson of
Catalina/Port Union, in her 52nd year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving
memories her husband Gerald (Bud); daughter Cherie; sons: Shawn and Shane;
mother Margaret Norman of Port Union; brothers: Kenneth; (Gail), Joe and Paul;
sisters: Janice Sheppard (Ray), Gail, Carol Keough (Jim); mother-in-law Geraldine
Johnson and the Johnson families; and a large circle of relatives and friends.
Resting at Strathies Funeral Home, Catalina. Funeral service to be held on
Thursday, 2:00 p.m., April 8, 2004 at Bethany United Church, Catalina.
