ABBOTT, Norman L. - Passed peacefully away at James Paton Memorial Hospital on Saturday, September 6, 2003, Mr. Norman L. Abbott of Musgrave Harbour in his 73rd year. Predeceased by his wife Audrey, parents Fred and May Abbott and brother-in-law Lloyd Keats. Left with fond and loving memories are four sons: John (Pauline) of Grand Falls-Windsor, Ralph (Noreen) of Bonavista, Dennis (Sarah-Jane) of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, and Paul (Janet) of Clarenville; two daughters: Donna Carpenter (Jack) of Catalina and Sandra McMullen (Rene) of Ottawa, Ontario; one sister, Marguerite Abbott-Norman of Musgrave Harbour; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Aggie Keats of Bonavista; five nieces and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service to take place on Tuesday, September 9 at 2 p.m. from St. Luke`s United Church in Musgrave Harbour. Interment at St. Luke`s United Church Cemetery in Musgrave Harbour. ADAMS, Lloyd - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. A.A. Wilkinson Memorial Hospital in Old Perlican on Thursday, January 23, 2003, Lloyd Adams in his 68th year. Predeceased by brother Gilbert in 1994; mother Mary Jane in 1995 and father Alonzo in 1962. Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted wife Phyllis; daughter Marilyn (Len); brother Gordon (Sylvia); sisters-in-law: Jane Adams (Reuben), Elsie Richter (Roy) and Jane Knapman; nieces and nephews, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Hopkins Funeral Home, Old Perlican. Funeral Service to take place on Sunday, January 26 at 2:30 p.m.from Hopkins Funeral Home. Interment to follow at the U.C. Cemetery in Old Perlican. ALLEN, Emily - Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles-Escasoni Complex on April 26, 2003, Emily Allen, aged 85 years, formerly of Chance Cove, Trinity Bay. She was predeceased by her husband Enos in 1991; brothers Leander, William and Nathaniel; sisters: Eunice, Jane, Venus, Elizabeth and Sarah. Leaving to mourn three sons: Clyde (Ethel) of St. John`s, Barry (Ruby) of Ontario and Hugh (Rosemary) of Ontario; one brother Joshu (Eleanor) of Hickman`s Harbour; five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 7-9 p.m. on Monday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday. Funeral service 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2003 from Barrett`s Chapel. Predeceased by his sister, Dorothy, and brother, Chesley. Left with fond and loving memories his brother William (Myria) of Shoal Harbour, nieces Elaine Stringer (Garfield) of Shoal Harbour, Evelyn Avery of Southport, nephew Winston Avery of Port Blandford, nieces Susette Peddle (Trace) of Clarenville, Shelly Littlejohn (Norman) of Bay Roberts, nephews Larry Tippet (Corrine) and Sterling Tippet (Sylvia) of Alberta, great-nieces and nephews and a large number of relatives and friends. Resting at Fewer`s Funeral Home, Little Heart`s Ease. Funeral will take place Monday, Sept. 15, 2003 at 2 p.m. from the United Church, Southport, with interment in United Cemetery, Little Heart`s Ease.

BAILEY, Leonard - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Sat., Feb. 8, 2003, Leonard Bailey of New Chelsea, age 73 yrs. Predeceased by his wife Frances (Dina) 1993; mother and father Susannah and John Bailey, two brothers: Hedley and Frank; two sisters: Florence and Viola. Remembered lovingly and forever missed by his three children Charles (Robin), Lucy (Edward Lee), and Stephen; grandchildren Christopher and Jordan Lee; three sisters: Dorothy Molloy, Eunice Miller and Lucy Meadus; one brother, Jim Pike; sister-in-law Margaret Bailey. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Margaret who made these last years joyous ones full of life and love. Passed peacefully away at St. Luke`s Home on Tuesday, January 28, 2003, in the presence of her loving family, Ruth Mary (Rowe) Bambrick of St. John`s at the age of 85 years - a precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, wife and friend. Predeceased by her husband, Cyril J. Bambrick (1992), taxi driver and owner of Terra Nova Taxi; her father, Henry Rowe (1946); her mother, Emily Rowe (1957); her sister, Linda Green (1994); her brothers: Harry Tavenor (circa 1949), Bill Rowe (1984) and Frederick Tavenor (1986). Leaving to mourn her five children: Garry (Catherine) Bambrick, Myra (Warren) Folkes of Moncton, Judy (Gary) Hughes, Audrey (Ron) Stone with whom she resided for many years and Paul (Marilyn) Bambrick; two sisters: Sarah Rowe and Jean George, both residing at St. Luke`s Home; sisters-in-law: Anne Thomas of Halifax, NS and Gladys Bambrick of Kitchener, ON; nine grandchildren: Heather (Steven) Noseworthy, Susan (Jeff) Cormier, Jennifer (Brian) Walsh, Tracey (Mike) Hughes, Nicole Hughes, Pamela Stone, Bradley Stone, David Bambrick and Allison Bambrick; three great-grandchildren: Amanda Walsh, Ashley Walsh and Dawson Cormier; and special caregiver, Hilda Short and husband Dave. BARTLETT, Frank N. - Passed peacefully away at the Leonard A. Miller Centre, Palliative Care Unit on July 03, 2003, Frank Bartlett, age 82 years. Predeceased by his parents John and Edith Bartlett. He was a long time member of Whiteway Masonic Lodge and CLB. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife Bernice (nee Penney); two sisters-in-law: Winnifred Pelley, Gander and Ruth Penney, Bridgewater, NS; special niece and nephew, Winnifred and Frank Noel; several other nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Harry Clarke and the staff at Palliative Care. Predeceased by husband James; brothers: Walter and Archibald Matthews and son-in-law Fred Hopkins. Left to mourn daughter Mary Hopkins, Brownsdale; granddaughter Judy (Clarence King); two great-grandchildren: Amy King, Hant`s Harbour and Dr. Roger King, Alberta; sister-in-law Effie Matthews, and a number of nieces and nephews of St. John`s. Rev. Yvonne Crocker conducted the funeral service on Thursday, March 13 at the United Church and Cemetery, Old Perlican. Funeral arrangements were directed by Hopkin`s Funeral Home, Old Perlican.

BERGRENN, Edith Mary (Rendell) - Died February 5, 2003, at St. Paul, Minnesota, formerly of Heart`s Content, aged 84 years. Predeceased by her parents, H.R. and Clara Rendell, and her sister, Eva Congdon. She is survived by her husband Don, son Don, daughter Ann and their families as well as her sister Marjorie Crocker (Charlie) of Heart`s Delight. Funeral took place at St. Paul on February 7.

Left with fond and loving memories her daughter Cynthia (Nathaniel) of St. John`s, sons Paul (Helena) of Huntington Beach, Randy (Ann) of Ottawa, Scott (Phyllis) of Fort McMurray, Dennis (Joaquina) of Barcelona, Spain. Sisters Margaret (Melvin) of Ontario, Allison (Chesley) of Queen`s Cove, Eva (Alfred) of Americus, Georgia, U.S.A. Brother Lewis of Clarenville. Seven grandchildren: Jaime, Adam, Aaron, Conor, Caden, Daly, Grace, special nephew Samuel Adey and family of Clarenville, special friends Bill and Joan Northover of Clarenville and a large number of relatives and friends. Remains will be resting at Fewer`s Funeral Home in Clarenville. Funeral will be 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Salvation Army Citadel church with interment at Interdenominational Cemetery in Salvage. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories nine children: George (Elizabeth), Blanche (Bernard Rice), Patsy (Terry Stansford), Phillip, all of New Perlican; Florence (late Edward Stansford) Mount Pearl; Kathleen (Robert Green) Hant`s Harbour; Marie (Wallace Hiscock), Nellie (late Donald Pinhorn) both of Winterton; Samuel of Saskatoon; nineteen grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one special great-grandson Colby Day. Three sisters: Laura (Bert Ash), Mabel (Ralph Critch), Hant`s Harbour; Bertha (Wilson Collins) Carbonear; two sisters-in-law Blanche (Joe Abbott), Alice Gulliford and one brother-in-law Absalom Ash. BUTLER, H. Gordon - July 25, 2003, H. Gordon Butler of Aurora, Ontario, aged 67, formerly of Port Rexton, Newfoundland, passed away at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto after a courageous battle with leukemia. He is predeceased by his wife Nora (Collins) and leaves to mourn his children Karl (Becky), Fredericton, N.B.; Steven (Charlene), Toronto, ON; and Stephanie (Jeremy) Thompson, Toronto and his grandchildren Matthew, Simon and Zachary. Leaving to mourn her daughter Eleanor (Tom) Miller, Ontario; sons Bruce, Nova Scotia and Wilbert (Patsy), St. John`s; two brothers, Reg Eddy (Louie), Edmund Eddy (Viola), Little Catalina; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., from 7-10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday. Funeral service 2 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003 from the Anglican Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Craigmillar Avenue. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
