HANCOCK, Mary G. (Hopkins) - Corner Brook. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Hancock announce her sudden passing at Brampton, Ont. on Thursday, May 23, 2002, at the age of 72 years. She will be sadly missed by her loving companion, Woodrow Pittman; her children: Bruce (Dolores), Brian (Linda), Evelyn (Ivan) and Judy (Lonnie) of Corner Brook, Bernice (Fergus) of Stephenville, Elaine of Clarenville, Edward (Carol) of Mount Pearl, Joyce (Peg) of St. John`s and James of Toronto. Also left to mourn are eight grandchildren: Robin, Jay, Jennifer, Laura, Marcus, Mason, Donald and Ashley; one brother, Richard (Una) of Mount Pearl, three sisters: Margaret (Leslie) of Lethbridge, NF., Joan of Gravenhurst, Ont. and Rosalie of Hamilton, Ont., as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Hancock (1994); parents, Herbert and Maude Hopkins; and brothers: Max and Bert. Friends may call at Fillatre`s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue, Corner Brook on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place on Monday, May 27 at 2:00 pm from St. John The Evangelist Cathedral, Main St. The Very Reverend Lorne Gosse officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to the St. John The Evangelist Restoration Fund would be greatly appreciated.

Leaving to mourn sister Eileen Newhook, Trinity Bay; two brothers: Cyril (Barbara), Brampton, Gordon (Dorothy), New Brunswick; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Resting at Pendergast`s Funeral Home. Funeral Services on Thursday, February 21, 2002 at 2 p.m. from St. Cyprians Church. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Bell Island.

HARRIS, Isabel - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 after a short illness in the presence of her loving family, Isabel Harris of Markland, NL., in her 91st. year. Predeceased by her first husband William Cook, her second husband Leroy Harris, and her daughter Bernice. Leaving to mourn sons: George Cook (Pearl), David Cook (Amelia), Markland; eight grandchildren: Debbie Tracey (Gary), Brenda Cook (Bob), Cathy Cook (Rick), Billy, Glen Cook (Daphne), Grant Cook all of St. John`s, Elaine Wrice (Wayne), Burin, Sharon Bell (Ian), Pasadena; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Richards (Elwood), Sue Mitchell, Doris Harris, St. John`s, Mary Harris, Markland, Allison Harris, Whitbourne; brother-in-law, Ron Harris, Scotland; also many devoted friends throughout the Province. HATCH, Margaret - Passed peacefully away at Dr. A.A. Wilkinson Memorial Health Centre, Old Perlican, on Friday June 7, 2002; Margaret Hatch of Bay de Verde in her 71st year. Predeceased by her parents, two brothers and four sisters. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband, Edward Hatch of Bay de Verde; two sons, Barry (Beverly) Hatch of Hant`s Harbour and Emile (Diane) Hatch of Iqaliut, Nunavut; five grandchildren: Brenda, Steven, Danielle, Amanda and Michael; two sisters, Catherine Elliott of Marystown and Charlotte Davis of Corner Brook; one brother, John Elliot of Halifax, N.S., also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Resting at Hopkins` Funeral Home, Old Perlican, Saturday, June 8 from 10 am to 10 pm and Sunday, June 9 from 10 am to 10 pm. HAYTER, Mary Anne - Passed peacefully away at St. Luke`s Homes, St. John`s, on February 9, 2002, Mary Anne Hayter, in her 91st year. Predeceased by her husband Thomas (1972) and son Dennis (1987). Giving thanks for her long life are sons Bill (Betty), St. John`s; Wilson (Sally), Courtright, Ontario; daughter-in-law Nina, Edmonton, Alberta; brother Arthur, Corner Brook; sister Clara, St. John`s; grandchildren Derek, Diane, Cathy, Everett, Lynn, Dennis and Tammy; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; also relatives in Trinity, Gander, Corner Brook and friends at St. Luke`s Homes. Resting at St. Paul`s Church, Trinity, from where the funeral service will be held. Funeral arrangements by Fewer`s Funeral Home, Clarenville. HAYWARD, Kenneth (Kenz) M. - Passed away suddenly at the Peninsulas Health Care Complex in Bonavista on Friday, June 21, 2002, Mackenzie (Kenz) Hayward of Port Union, age 61. Predeceased by wife Lorna (Hobbs); parents Harry and Ella Hayward; brothers: Watson, Calvin and sister Verna. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories, daughter Karen (Rick); brothers: Wayne (Patsy), Crawford in B.C.; sisters: Geraldine, Phyllis and Zeta; mother-in-law Elizabeth Abbott and Harold, as well as a very large circle of close family and friends in many parts of Newfoundland and Labrador. Remains rested at Strathies Funeral Home with funeral services from Bethany United Church in Catalina at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 26th, 2002.

HEAD, Chesley J. "Chet" - (Long standing member of Local 46). Passed peacefully away after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, September 1st, 2002, in his 56th year. Beloved husband of Frances; loving father of Darcy (Karry) and predeceased by son Jason. Dear son of Florence and the late Chesley Head of Brownsdale. Sadly missed by brother Nicholas (Margaret) of Carbonear and sister Evelyn (Chester) Thorne of Brownsdale. Son-in-law of Elizabeth and Francis McKie. Sadly missed by his nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends. Resting at Oshawa Funeral Services ³Thorton Chapel² with visitation on Wednesday, September 4. As well as his many close friends in Toronto. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place on Saturday, August 3rd at 11:00 a.m. from St. Augustine`s Anglican Church, New Perlican. Predeceased by wife Blanche; brothers: Leonard, Hayward, John and Tom. Leaving to mourn, three daughters: Ellen (Alexander) Jackson, Cavendish, Alma (Albert) Jackson, Cavendish, Judy (Arthur) Snook, Sunnyside; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters: Bertha Burt, St. John`s and Mary Bennett, Green`s Harbour; sisters-in-law: Eva Hillier, Green`s Harbour, a large number of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. IVANY, Laurence (Lar) Randolph - It is with great sadness, the family of Laurence (Lar) Randolph Ivany announce his passing. Passed away at the Health Sciences Centre, Monday, February 4, 2002, after a brief, but brave fight with Leukemia, age 70 years. Predeceased by his parents Mamie (Leawood) (1950) and Ronald (1998). Left to mourn his wife Ivy (Penney), whom he loved and protected throughout 43 years of marriage; five loving children: Ron (Gail), Wanda (Paul Smith), Margot (Chris Parrell), Vickie and Jason; five treasured grandchildren: Kerilyn and Andrew Percy, Matthew Ivany, Curtis and Jonathan Ivany; two cherished great-grandchildren: Kierstin and Zachary Percy; four brothers: Harold (Sadie), Malcolm (Violet), Doug (Lilly) and Tom; long time friends and hunting buddies Pierce Hoyles and Frank Lane; brothers-in-law: John Penney (Elsie), George Penney (Myrtle), Charle Penney (Rita) and Ellsworth Penney; sisters-in-law: Edna Ivany (Reg), Dorothy Senior (George) and Lilly McCann; also many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Retired from Newfoundland Power in 1993 after 37 years of dedicated service, he spent his leisure time hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors with his buddies and beagle dogs. Gideon King, aged 94 years, formerly of St. Jones Within, NF, whom served in WWII. Predeceased by his sisters and brothers. Left with fond and loving memories, his wife Miriam of 51 years; brother-in-law Richard Strong (Nettie) of Clarenville; two special nieces: Loretta Curtis (Freeman) of Hatchet Cove, Janet Strong (Robert) of Clarenville; and a large number of other relatives and friends. KING, Rod - Passed away unexpectedly at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John`s on Saturday, March 30, 2002, Rod King of Shoal Harbour, aged 42 years. Predeceased by his father Aubrey King of Shoal Harbour. Left with fond and loving memories his son Jonathan of Clarenville; his mother Beulah; sisters: Maxine Keenan (Charles) and Theresa Hubbard (Jarvis); brothers: Wayne King (Philo) and Derrick King; special friend Louise Hancock and a large number of relatives and friends. Resting at Fewer`s Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral service 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3 at the Pentecostal Church, Georges Brook with interment at the Interdenominational Cemetery in Clarenville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
