ADAMS, Frank - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on January 12, 2006, Frank Adams, aged 69 years. Formerly of Old Perlican, Trinity Bay. Retired Civil Servant (Wildlife Div.); also retired Nape Hockey League Coach. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Norma; two sons: Boyd (Maureen) and grandchildren: Nathan and Matthew; also Alyssa and Ryan; Vandy (Sandra) and grandchildren Janelle and Brad; one daughter Virenna (Ambrose) and their son Ian; brother Jim (Triffie); sisters: Gladys (Wilson), Lorraine (Everett); father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Florence Brookings; brothers-in-law: Lester (Ruth), Llewellyn (Virena), Max (Betsy), Len (Marilyn); sister-in-law Geraldine (Gerald); also leaving to mourn a number of nieces, nephews and a large circle of family and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Saturday, January 14th and Sunday, January 15th from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Monday, January 16, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. from First United Church, Mount Pearl. AVERY, Geraldine - Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer at Dr. GB Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Thursday, August 17, 2006, Geraldine Avery of Adeytown, aged 55 years. Predeceased by her son Jody; dad, Cyril Thomas; brother Willis and father-in-law Walter Avery. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Wince of 37 years; mother Ethel Thomas, Hodge's Cove; sons: Michael (Tammy), St. John's and Trevor (Lisa), Adeytown; sisters: Ella (Jim Peddle), Hodge's Cove, Patsy (Richard Goobie), Queen's Cove and Ethel (Dawn Seward), Hodge's Cove; brothers: Doug (Ruth) and Ron (Greta), both of Hodge's Cove; precious grandchildren: Mitchell, Braeden and Kendra; mother-in-law Violet Avery, Deep Bight; brothers-in-law: Milton Avery (Vicki), Alberta and Lindo Avery (Lorraine), Deep Bight; sister-in-law Vera (Gerald Stoyles), Fort McMurray, AB; special friend Renee King, and a large number of family and friends. Predeceased by husband Bert, 1989; son Stanley; sister Media Lilike; brothers: Harold Sutton, Jim Sutton and Nathaniel Sutton. Leaving to mourn her children: Roy (Mildred) and Howard (Louise), both of Victoria, Robert (Laverne), Brampton, Ontario, Jane (Stanley), Higdon, New Harbour, Mary (Ron) Slade, Salmon Cove, Bert (Linda), Victoria, Lloyd (Glenda), Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Melvin (Tina), Derek (Hester) and Wade (Wanda), all of Victoria; 31 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; one brother, Melvin (Mary) Sutton, Winterton; two sisters: Mary (Don) Thorne, New Brunswick and Marion (Dan) Horekia, Goulds; sisters-in-law: Veneta Anthony, Mount Pearl, Ceneth Sutton, Victoria, Kathleen Gregory and Dorothy Baldwin, both of Markland; brothers-in-law: Herb Lilike, Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Albert (Julia) Baldwin, Markland; also a large number of other relatives and friends. BAKER, Verna May - 1919 - 2006. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Verna Baker announces her passing at the Palliative Care Unit, Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at the age of 87 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, daughters: Melvina (Max) Simmons of Green's Harbour, Lorraine (Don) Burton of Corner Brook and Vivian (Gerry) Cranford of Prince Edward Island; sons: Hansel (Margaret) of Elliston and Alvin (Grace) of St. John's; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters: Mamie (Calvin) Pelly of Gander and Nellie (Wallace) Chaulk of Belleville, ON; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Corner Brook and Elliston. Visitation will be held at Strathie's Funeral Home, Bonavista on Friday, August 25, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, August 26, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Sunday, August 27, 2006 at 1 p.m. at Elliston Memorial United Church with Rev. BURGESS, Pleamon - February 20, 1921 - July 20, 2006. A Member of the Masonic Order Lodge Heart's Content #1275, Trinity Conception Shriners Club, Faithful Member of Bethel United Church. Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital in the presence of his loving family on Thursday, July 20, 2006, Pleamon Burgess of Heart's Delight, aged 85 years. Predeceased by parents Charles and Maude Burgess, wife Violet (1998) and infant daughter Violet. Brothers: Lewis, Fred and Llewelyn. Sisters: Violet and Nellie. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his four children: Gerald (Norma), Paulette (John) Cumby, Gloria (Lloyd) Short, Chesley (Janet) Parsons; ten grandchildren: Peter (Nicolle) Burgess, Rob Burgess, Keith Burgess, Karen (Kris) Lomond, Jill Cumby, Mike Tilley, Amy Cumby, Melanee (Christopher) Meilenner, Ryan Short (Kristen LeBlanc), Kerri (Rob) Green, Jessica Parsons; six great-grandchildren: Matthew and Simon Burgess, Emma and Kole Lomond, Zoe Cumby Tilley, Madison Green. Predeceased by his wife Mildred; parents Harrison and Maud; two brothers, Gilbert and Andrew; three sisters, Selina, Ida and Lucy. Leaving to mourn his loving partner, Deanne Cook, and their son Chad Cook; stepdaughter Leigh Chalker; his daughter Tanya Watton (Dave); their children Layla and Logan; his son Todd Cranford (Susan); sister Edna Pollett (Clyde); sisters-in-law Marjorie and Sylvia; special friend and mother-in-law June Cook; special fishing buddy and nephew Dave Pollett; also other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
