ELFORD, Stella Louise (nee Cake) - Passed away suddenly at her home in Fortune on July 10, 1998, Stella Louise Elford (nee Cake),age 74 years. Predeceased by her husband John T., April 11,1997 and her brother George. Leaving to mourn with many precious memories sons: Glenn and wife Linda of Fortune, Gilbert and wife Betty Lou of Clarenville; darling grandchildren: Melissa, Jeffrey, Nicole and Alison; mother Emily Green of Upper Gullies; sisters: Ruth (Alfred Crews), Barbara (Merv Rideout) all of Upper Gullies, Joan (Len Vallis) of Halifax; sisters-in-law: Edna Cake of Fortune and Eleanor Douglas of St. John`s. Also leaving to mourn a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at White Dove Funeral Home in Fortune. Funeral on Monday, July 13,1998 at 2 p.m. from Fortune United Church with interment at the United Church Cemetery in Fortune. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to Fortune United Church Cemetery Fund or a charity of one`s choice. Mom, you will always be forever in our hearts.

FACEY, Gordon - Passed peacefully away at St. Luke`s Home on July 9, 1998 - Aged 82 years. Predeceased by wife Joyce (Avery), March 3, 1998. Leaving to mourn son Paul (Pat); grandsons: Andrew (Pamela) and Matthew; brothers: Jack (Mary), Noel (Gladys); sister Monica (Ray); sisters-in-law: Doreen Facey, Vina (Edgar), Betty Avery, Mabel Avery, Lorraine Hartley; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, from 7-9 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m. - 12 Noon, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday; then at the Anglican Church, Heart`s Content from 12 Noon - 2 p.m. Saturday. Funeral Service 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 11th, 1998 from the Anglican Church, Heart`s Content. Flowers gratefully declined. As expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to St. Luke`s Home.

FREEMAN, Carrie (Ash - Pennell)- Passed peacefully away at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, Monday, May 18, 1998, Carrie Freeman (Ash-Pennell) of Port Rexton, aged 80 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are husband Edison; daughter Eileen Pennell; sons: Joseph (Bud) Pennell (Donna) and William Pennell (Molly); step-son Selby Freeman (Margaret); grandchildren: Cindy, Brian, Brampton, ON, Angela Freeman Knee, John Freeman, St. John`s; great-grandchildren: Michael and Hayley; brothers: Sidney Ash and Marcus Ash, St. John`s; and a circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Fewer`s Funeral Home, Port Rexton. Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 1998 from Christ Church, Port Rexton. Interment at Anglican Cemetery.

Leaving to mourn her husband of 54 years, Gerald; three sons and five daughters: Don (Helen), Pouch Cove, Jean, Clarenville, Mary (Tom), Bay de Verde, Gerard (Betty), Conche, Angela (Leon), B.C., Carmelita (Tony), St. John`s, Jerry (Dale), Pouch Cove, Loretta (Ronald), Conche; sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers: Bernard (Josephine), Conche, Clifford, Conche; one sister Anne (Cyril), Croque; also a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Sacred Heart Church, Conche on Sunday. Funeral Mass on Monday, May 25, 1998 from Sacred Heart Church, Conche. Interment at Conche.

GIBBONS, James - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G.B Cross Memorial Hospital on August 11, 1998, age 96 years. Leaving to mourn one daughter Yvonne Gibbons of Portugal Cove; two sisters: Naomi Duffet, Port Union and Virture North of Nova Scotia, plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral to take place at George`s Brook United Church on Friday, August 15th at 2:30 p.m.

GOODYEAR, Baxter - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Sunday, May 24, 1998 Baxter Goodyear, of Harcourt, age 82 years. Predeceased by wife Lillian; two brothers: Don and Max; one sister May. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is one brother Ross Goodyear, wife Mary, Harcourt; one sister Clemmie Smith (Az), Grand Falls; also a number of nieces and nephews; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Fewer`s Funeral Home, Clarenville. Funeral Services 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 1997 from Bethany United Church, Harcourt. Interment to follow at United Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children`s Wish Foundation or the Charity of one`s choice.

GREEN, Roland - Passed away suddenly at his home in Sunnyside, Trinity Bay, June 9, 1998, aged 72 years. Predeceased by his mother Lillian and father Mark Green, brother Kitchener and sister Mabel. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Gertie; two sisters: Emma Pardy (Albert) at Heart`s Delight and Phyllis Crews (George) at Toronto; two brothers Walter at Toronto and Clayton (Effie) at Sunnyside; nephews Jason, Brian, Wayne and Ronnie; nieces Brenda, Florence and Sharon; step-daughter Joyce Beck (Scott) at Swift Current; stepsons Ray Curtis (Ferne) and Ab Curtis (Linda) at Hodge`s Cove; grandchildren Megan, Paula, Melanie, Angie, Aaron, Philip and Rodney. Also, a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at St. Andrew`s Anglican Church, Sunnyside. Funeral took place on Friday, June 12, 1998.

GUSHUE, Harold - Passed peacefully away at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville on Saturday, August 1, 1998, Harold Gushue of Clarenville, aged 75 years. Predeceased by brother Bart, 1985 and twin sister Gladys, 1992. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife Marjorie; one brother Leonard (Ruth); seven sisters: Jessie Moulton, Florence Duffett, Violet Sparkes (Noah), Lillian Percy (Clarence), Doreen Hogan (James), Mary Lush, Jean Devozzo (Frank); one step-son Ronald Strong; one step-daughter Sharon Armstrong and a circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Fewer`s Funeral Home, Clarenville. Visitation beginning on Sunday at 3 p.m. Funeral service Tuesday, August 4, 1998 from Memorial United Church, Clarenville, with interment at Clarenville Interdenominational Cemetery.
