EVANS, Mary Eliza - 82 years of age, of Gables Lodge, Amherst, formerly of 11 Fletcher Drive, Amherst, passed away at the Lodge on Tuesday, August 14, 2001. Born in Grates Cove, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary (Hodder) Benson. She had worked as a seamstress for the American Air Force Base & White Clothing Co. in St. John`s, Nfld. and Murphy Pants Factory & Playtex Co. in Amherst. She was a member of Trinity-St. Stephen`s United Church. She is survived by her husband George; a daughter Sandra Serwa (husband Donald), Calgary; sons: Harry (wife Karon), Fredericton and Jack (wife Angie), Toronto; a sister Stella Pearson, Daytona Beach, Florida; a half-sister Irene Hunt (husband Jack), St. John`s, Nfld; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a son Joseph and two brothers: Joseph and Wesley. Her remains are resting at Furlong`s Funeral Home in Amherst on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at Trinity-St. Stephen`s United Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charlene Maguire officiating. Burial will take place in the Amherst Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity-St. Stephen`s United Church or to the charity of your choice.

EVELY, Reginald (Reg) - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center, St. John`s, on Wednesday, August 15th, 2001 Reg Evely of Hearts Content. Age 70 years. Predeceased by grandson Gregory Dean. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, wife Ida, Hearts Content; 4 sons: Reg (Clara), Wawa, Ont., Dave (Margo), Scarborough, Ont., Don (Ruth), Ajax, Ont., Carson (Donna), Hearts Content; 1 daughter Gayle (Lionel Dean), Hearts Content; 8 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 5 great-grandchildren; 1 brother Jim (Lizzie), Islington, Ont.; 2 brothers-in-law: Max Sooley (Jean), Hearts Content, Lloyd Sooley (Rose), Whitehorse, Yukon; 3 sisters-in-law: Sadie (Alex Rowe), Mabel (Jack Smith) and Beatrice (Beatie) Sooley, all of Hearts Content; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Green`s Funeral Home, Winterton. Visiting hours: Friday 2-5 and 7-10 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Funeral Service to follow at 2 p.m. from Heyfield Memorial United Church, Hearts Content. Cremation to follow. Inurnment to take place on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Heyfield Memorial Cemetery. FOLLETT, Margaret - Passed peacefully away on October 9, 2001, in the presence of her family, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimers, Margaret Follett, age 84 years. Predeceased by her husband Frank. Left with fond and loving memories, her four children: Frank (Neng), Shirley, Mary (Guy), Edward (Gail); 11 grandchildren: Brian (Lucy), Greg (Kelli), Nancey (Joe), Sharon (Scott), Bruce (Kathy), Keith (Michelle), Natalie (Dave), Daniel, Francis, Jason (Dawn) and Jennifer; 6 great-grandchildren: Ashley, Lauren, Ashton, Chelsie, Tyler, Halley. Predeceased by his parents, Roland and Priscilla (nee Hawkins); daughter Janice; brothers: Norman and Alfred; sisters: Nellie and Annie. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his devoted wife of 55 years, Marguerite; children: Jim of Glovertown, Edmund (Barb) of Clarenville, Joan (Everett Pitts) of Springdale, Graham (Toni) of Calgary, Rosalind (Denis English) of Mount Pearl and Sandy (Chris Hodder) of Gander; brother Herbert (Irene) of Glovertown; grandchildren: Sherry, Heidi, Lesley, Lee, Kerry, Ginger, Janice, Joey, Riley and Alexander; great-grandchildren: Joshua and Joel; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Passed away suddenly at the Health Sciences Complex on Saturday, June 16, 2001, Eileen F. George of Blaketown, in her 69th year. Predeceased by husband Kevin; brother Ford; sisters Elizabeth, Elaine and Patricia; and granddaughter Jessica. Leaving to mourn with special memories, her five children: Ward (Karen), Robert (Donna), Neal (Cindy), Michael and daughter Jennifer; four grandchildren, Sarah, Julieanne, Matthew and Scarlett; beloved sister Grace Archibald; brother Neal (Louise); sister-in-law Audrey Woodman; mother-in-law Julia; brother-in-law Edward (Hazel); special friend Norma Dawe; a very large circle of other relatives and many friends. Cremation has taken place at her request. Visitation at Warren`s Funeral Home, Dildo, Sunday, June 17, 4-10 p.m., Monday 10 a.m.-12 noon. Twenty-three grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brother Stanley Coish (Bessie), Rattling Brook. Sisters: May Smith, Apsey Brook; Cecelia Smith (Hayward), Apsey Brook; Florence Squires (Bill), Old Perlican; many other relatives and friends. Resting at Vardy`s Funeral Home, Hickman`s Harbour. Funeral Service 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at Britannia United Church. Interment to follow in United Church Cemetery, Britannia. Leaving to mourn two daughters Emily Gosse (Graham) of Whitbourne, Pagie Hickman (Don) of Nevada, USA, one son Bill of St. John`s, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as a large circle of family and friends. Resting at Holloway`s Funeral Home until funeral service on Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blaketown. Visiting hours Saturday, February 10 2-5 p.m., 7-9 p.m. Sunday, February 11 2-5 p.m., 7-10 p.m. Monday, February 12, 10 a.m. to time of service. Leaving to mourn her children: Paul (Ann), Alberta, Mary Kranenburg (Gerard), Sandra Goldring, Valerie Johnson (Michael), Raechel Woodman (Wendell), New Harbour; her eleven precious grandchildren; sisters: Eileen George, Blaketown, Grace Archibald; brothers: Ford Woodman (Audrey), Dildo, Neal Woodman (Louise), New Harbour; son-in-law Bob Phillips, Ont. and her friends at Kelly`s Brook Apartments. At Patricia`s request, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may visit the family at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. on Friday from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Friday, February 23, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. and also in New Harbour at a time to be announced. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 62 years Blanche (Meadus), two daughters: Ethel (Ed) Blundon and Vinie (Lloyd) Martin; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, nephew Jim Goobie, niece Mildred Howse, other nieces and nephews and a wide circle of family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Family will be receiving visitors at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, from 2-4 p.m., 7-9 p.m. Thursday; 10-12 noon Friday. GOSSE, Marion Fraser (Reid) - A Memorial Service for mother and son will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2001 from St. John`s United Church, New Harbour, at 2 p.m. Marion Fraser (Reid) Gosse passed peacefully away at her home in St. John`s on February 6, 2001 in her 104th year. William Baxter Gosse, beloved husband of Kathleen (Kay Stewart) Gosse, at his home in Timmons, Ontario, in his 69th year. Leaving to mourn their loss, daughter and sister Alice (Gosse) Keating; son and brother, Gerry Gosse; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Baxter`s loving wife Kay and sons Grant Gosse and Mike Kentish; daughter Stephanie (Kentish) Grant; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and the many relatives and friends who touched both their lives.

GREEN, Douglas - His journey has ended, he now walks hand in hand with the Lord. It is with sadness the family of Douglas Green of Deep Bight, age 79, announce his passing at G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville, on Wednesday, Sept. 19/2001. He will be missed dearly by his wife of fifty-seven years Mary (nee Hiscock). His legacy continues through his seven children: Vicki (Milton) Avery, Janet (Walter) Lethbridge, Dallas (Karl) Quinton, Avalene, Glen, Brenda (Jim) Buffett and Roger (Paulette); also left to mourn are fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by parents Pleoman and Victoria (Hyde) and brothers: Ron, Enoch and Andrew. Interment was at Deep Bight Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 22. Donations to the Cemetery Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers.

GREEN, Marguerite - Passed away suddenly, after a brief illness, at the Health Sciences Center, St. John`s on June 29, 2001, Marguerite Green, at the age of 72 years. Predeceased by her parents Maggie and Newman Green; and brother Max. Left with fond and loving memories, her brother Wilfred (Florence); sister Blanche; sister-in-law Muriel Green, all of Deep Bight; four nieces, one nephew and a number of relatives and friends. Resting at the Trinity United Church, Deep Bight. Funeral was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity Untied Church in Deep Bight. Interment followed at United Church Cemetery, Deep Bight. In her memory there is a memorial fund to the Trinity United Church, Deep Bight. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fewer`s Funeral Home, Clarenville.
