LANE, Kevin Nathaniel - Passed peacefully away on Sunday, December 10 at Bonavista Hospital after a hard fought battle with cancer, Kevin Lane of Port Union. Age 38 years. Predeceased by his mother May in 1993. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, his father Eli (Margaret); and sister Elizabeth at Port Union; also a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Resting at Strathies Funeral Home, Catalina. Funeral to take place 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter`s Church. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery, Catalina. LAWLOR, Edward J. Sr. - Passed peacefully away at Escasoni on Monday, October 2, 2000, age 82 years, 3 months, formerly of St. Thomas` Line, Paradise. A well known man for his many trips to Millertown, moose hunting. Predeceased by his loving wife Gertrude Whalen-Lawlor (nee Locke), May 1985. Leaving to mourn a loving and cherished daughter Joan Rodgers; special grandson Louis (Jean); 3 sons: Richard (Francis), Ned (Muriel) and Benedict (Carol), Haliburton, Ont.; stepdaughters: Bridget Coombs (Cyril), Trepassey, Mary Jones and Nora Sinclair (Eric), Clarenville; stepsons: Jim Whalen and Pat Whalen, Ontario; 32 grandchildren, a great number of great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Madonna Druken, Bernadette Druken (Sylvester) and Jean Lynch; also a number of nieces and nephews; as well as the staff and friends of 2 North and 2 West at Escasoni; and a number of relatives and many friends of St. Thomas Line, Paradise. LEGGE, Frederick Corbett - Passed peacefully away on Thursday, June 1, 2000, in the presence of his family at the Health Sciences Complex, after a long courageous battle with cancer, Frederick Corbett Legge of Heart`s Delight, age 79 years. Predeceased by father Frederick, mother Adelia, twin brother Allan, brother William and granddaughter Penni. Leaving to mourn wife Ina; seven sons and one daughter: William (Betty Jean), Selina, Henry (Pat), Joseph (Sybil), Gordon (Barb), Edwin (Daphne), Jesse (Carolann), Frederick (Joy); fifteen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one uncle; two aunts; special friend Dave; also a large circle of other relatives and many friends. Resting at the S.U.F. Lodge, Heart`s Delight. Leaving to mourn her loving husband, George (Roy); two daughters: Wanda (Glenn Chubbs), Trudy (Glenn Thorne); four grandchildren: Trevor, Chelsea, Leanne and Claire; brother Harvey (Shirley); sisters: Eileen (Sidney), Sylvia (Doug), Whilemena, Shirley (John Jr.); mother-in-law Marion; special brother-in-law Al (Erma); sisters-in-law: Jane (Neville) and Elaine (George); special friend Joan Brophy. MacDONALD, Miriam (Hutchings) - Death of Miriam MacDonald, age 74, of 50 Gritton Avenue, Sydney, formerly of Tilton, Nfld. Passed away very suddenly Wednesday, August 9, 2000 at Bedford, Nova Scotia. Born at Blaketown, Trinity Bay, Nfld., she was the daughter of the Late Solomon and Beatrice (Smith) Hutchings of Tilton, Conception Bay, Nfld. She was a member of Saint Anthony Daniel Parish, Sydney. She was a long standing member of the CWL, The Irish Benevolent Society and The Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a devoted volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society, The Heart and Stroke Foundation and the St. Vincent De Paul Society. Surviving are two daughters: Mary Joan (John) MacAdam, Bedford, N.S. and Carmel Anne (Bob) MacDonald, Victoria, B.C.; one son Donald Gerard MacDonald, Ottawa, Ontario. She is also survived by eight sisters: Florence, Labrador, Kathleen, Sydney, Mildred, Margaret, Joan, Debbie, all of Newfoundland, Rhoda, California and Louise, Toronto; three brothers: Joe and Jack, Newfoundland, Soll, California. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Glenn, Taunia, Liam, Andrew, Aimee, Jay, Connor and Breena; and two great-grandchildren: Jamie and Keegan. She was predeceased by her husband Francis E. MacDonald; two sons: Barry Francis and David Clifford; her stepmother Belinda; brothers: William Clifford, Wilfred; sisters: Lillian, Gertrude. The Late Mrs. MacDonald will have no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held Monday 2 p.m. in St. Anthony Daniel Church with Rev. L. Boone officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks, N.S. Donations may be made to the N.S. Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Leaving to mourn her husband James McGrath; four sons: Israel McGrath (Jessie), New Bonaventure, Roy McGrath (Susie), New Bonaventure, Stanley McGrath, Stephenville Crossing, Lloyd McGrath (Linda), New Bonaventure; five daughters: Ruby Brake (Edmund), Stephenville Crossing, Stella Young (Stanley), Upper Island Cove, Bernice Brake (Gerald), Cold Brook, Nova Scotia, Linda King (Gerard), St. John`s, Eileen Dillhan, Enfield, Nova Scotia; also 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; also 3 brothers: James Cooper (deceased wife Shirley), Trinity East, John Cooper (Barbara), Franklin, NH, USA, Gerald Cooper (Pearl), Trinity East; 3 sisters: the late Sylvia Cooper, Myrtle Anderson (Lou), Ontario, Joan Heffern (Heber), Salvage; also many friends and relatives. Leaving to mourn with loving memories his wife of 52 years, Jean (Barbour); one son Dr. Ian Morris (Brenda), Halifax, NS; two special nieces: Eleanor (Rick) Burt and Denise (Lew) Andrews; and a large number of in-laws and friends. Rupert was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the Canadian Army, with the 23rd Field Company, Royal Canadian Engineers. Born October 28th, 1902, at Elliston, Trinity Bay, Elsie was predeceased by her parents William and Emily Oldford, sisters Dorcas, Elizabeth, Ella, Minnie and Theresa, and brothers Maynard and Noah. Elsie is survived by many nieces and nephews, the Neal and Fearn families, for whom Elsie has been family as well, and countless friends. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., where visitors are invited from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2000 from Barrett`s Chapel with interment to follow at the General Protestant Cemetery. Cross Memorial Hospital, Clarenville after a short illness surrounded by her devoted family on Friday, July 14, 2000, Bessie Ploughman of Trinity, aged 81 years. Born in Goose Cove, Trinity Bay on October 9, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Mark and Mary (Hayter) Bailey. Leaving to mourn are five sons: Robert (Edna), Wabush, Lab., Gordon, (Mary), Hastings, Ont., John (Evelyn), Bonavista, Frank (Toni), Trinity and Eugene (Gail), Angus, Ont.; five daughters: Louise (Chesley Hiscock), Dunfield, Daphne (Armand Richard), Rexton, N.B., Irene (John Deagen), Bay Bulls, Florence (Joseph Vokey), Trinity and Brenda (Wayne Marsh), Trinity; two brothers: Arthur Bailey, Goose Cove and Robert Bailey, Bancroft, Ont.; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, infant granddaughter January Esther, sister Amy Ryan and brother Noah Bailey. Remains resting at the Mortuary Chapel in Trinity. Predeceased by her husband Reg, and her brother Jim Harding. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children George (Gladys Leaman) Spokane, Washington; Judy (Tom Northcott) Deep Bight, NF; Roslyn (John Emberley) Kemptville, ON; and Roberta (Derek Osmond) St. John`s. Eleven grandchildren: Tracey (Press) Jones, Leslie (Press) Helms, and Dana Press; Tom Northcott Jr., Tanya Northcott, and Mark Northcott; Janet (Emberley) Lalonde, Karen Emberley, and Colin Emberley; Linda Osmond and Susan Osmond; five great-grandchildren: Tyler, Jacob, Skye, Sage and Claire. Also her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Edwin and Phyllis Press, and Marion Press and many other relatives and friends. Thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff of Hoyles East One for their kind and loving care of Mabel through the last years of her life. At Mabel`s request cremation has taken place.
