Source: Memorial Register 10 The original register was published in 1929 and subsequent changes have been incorporated in this amended version. Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Maidenhead, Bershire 1986 1914-1918 The War Dead of The Commonwealth Bearing the names of those sailors, soldiers and merchant seamen from Newfoundland who fell in the Great War and have no known graves. The land on which this Memorial stands was acquired in perpetuity by the Government of the Dominion of Newfoundland. The particulars given in the Register of the War Dead have been compiled from information furnished by the Record Offices and the next-of-kin. In all cases the relatives have been asked to furnish the personal information they wish to appear in the Register and where possible this has been given in their actual words. I would point out that the information contained in the printed register is pertinent to the time it was published. Since that time, additions, corrections or amendments may have been made so you may wish to cross reference the register to the details shown in the 'Cemetery Report' on the on-line 'Debt of Honour Register' found on the Commonwealth War Graves Commonwealth site. |
