Those Who Came After The Original
500 |
A photo of a member of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment taken during WW I.
If anyone recognizes this couple please contact me.
Daniel B. Breen
The picture is on a Post Card by S.H.Parsons & Sons of St.John's, NFLD.
In the top left corner on the back is the # 2. In the top right corner on the
back is the # 25206.
This picture belonged to my grandfather James Locke who was married twice,
to Jesse Bennett his first wife and Annie Taylor his second wife.
Annie was widowed, her first husband was Noah Taylor. Annie's maiden name was
Flynn.
I mention his wives names because this picture could have belonged to them.
We have no idea as to who they are and we do not think the man is a family
member because there are no family features in his face, but we could be wrong.
James Locke died in 1953 and there is no one around who can identify the people
in the picture.
On the back of the picture with the soldier, written in pencil is a name which
is very hard to pick out.
It has faded. It looks like Tom Sawyer, but could be Don Swyer or other variations
along those lines.
