| Pte Frank William Stares Regt
# 1449 Donated by Marjorie (Stares) Fudge Frank was born on 7 April 1899 in Port Blandford, Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland. He enlisted in the Royal Newfoundland Regt at the age of 17 years. He fought and was wounded in the Battle of Beaumont Hamel on 1 July 1916. His name is listed in the book "What Became of Corporal Pittman?". It is thought that he was later commissioned in the field after returning from recuperating from his wounds. |
