Cornelius Meyers  Regt # 2601

Cornelius Meyers was born 24 November 1892 in Den Helder, Holland.
He served on a Dutch ship that was in the St. John's harbour in the early 1900's. He jumped ship and stayed in Newfoundland and married Emma Whitten from Southside, St. John's on 1 July 1912. They had 3 sons and 2 daughters.

He served in the Royal Newfoundland Regiment in the First World War, and worked for many years at Furness Whithy & Co. in St. John's. His grandchildren and great grandchildren called him, "The Skipper."

Cornelius died 26th Mar 1966 at age 74.
