One of The Original 500

George Wilson Lukins
died 1 Jul 1916
John Thomas Lukins
died 28 Jun 1916

George and Jack Lukins were also part of the First 500 to sail overseas on the Florizel.

"The above photos were copied from a framed photo of the two brothers, side by side, which originally hung in the home of Alice Gertrude (Lukins) King, a sister of George and Jack Lukins.
About 1965, she gave it to Frederick John Lukins, George's son. Fred died in 1998, and it now hangs in the home of his widow, Vera Massey (Small) Lukins.
John Douglas Lukins, Vera's son, and Shirley Mae Rex (Cook) Larkin, a granddaughter of Jack, recently photographed the original, and it is from their copy that these separate photos were extracted.
George and Jack were actually half brothers. Jack's father, James Wilson Lilly, drowned in 1888, and his mother subsequently married Frederick Theophilus Lukins, who was George's father."

The above narration was donated by Rich Johnston,  nephew of George Lukins' wife, Alice (Aspell) Lukins, who later married Rich's father's brother "Jack Johnston", survivor of the Florizel disaster.
