George Samuel Knight Regt # 309

George was the son of Charles and Phoebe Knight of 27 William Street, St. John's, Newfoundland. He was a "Blue Puttee". George was killed in the Dardanelles on 2 Dec 1915 at age 21 and is buried Azmak cemetery, Turkey.

This headstone for George Samuel Knight is located in the General Protestant Cemetery in St. John's. The plot contains George's father, Charles. His mother, Phoebe, and sister, Edith Knight Whitten. And a child, June Knight, daughter of his brother, Stephen Knight.

The headstone reads: "Also in loving memory of George Samuel Knight, killed in action at the Dardanelles, 2 Dec 1915, age 21 years. Greater love has no man than this that a man lay down his life for his Friends".
