William James Haley

William was bonrn 7 May 1900, the son of John and Jane Healey of 39 Merrymeeting Road, St. John's Newfoundland.
He joined the Royal Newfoundland Regiment and was assigned Regt # 2984. He enlisted at age 16 yrs just 24 days after Beaumont Hamel.

William died Oct 3, 1918 near Ledeghem, Belgium at the age of 18 yrs.

He was first buried in a German Cemetery at Moorslede, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium but later, after the war, when Chaplain Nagle was back in Europe looking for missing/misplaced RNR bodies, he was exhumed and moved to Dadizele New British Cemetery.
