Those Who Came After The Original 500

Sergeant Nathan Gosse Regt # 1421
Donated by Nathan Gosse

Nathan Gosse was born 22 Jan 1889 in Spaniard's Bay, NL, the son of Esau Gosse and Mary Jane (Young) Gosse.
He enlisted on 15 Apr 1915, and on 19 Jun 1915 embarked on the SS Calgarian for overseas. He was demobilized on 08 May 1919, but not before marrying a young Scottish girl named Catherine Smith Gibson Mckie on 24 Feb 1919 in Muirkirk, Scotland.
He brought her back to Newfoundland for just a few short months, and then moved on to Sydney, NS, where he worked at his trade as a blacksmith in the Sydney Steel Mill. When an uprising took place there involving the employees, Nathan left and went to Lynn, MA, where his older sister and her husband lived.
His wife and two children followed shortly thereafter and he remained there working in the General Electric Company as a blacksmith. He died 01 Dec 1972 in Saugas, Everette, MA.
