Pte. Maurice Gillingham Regt # 3636

Maurice was the son of Esau and Catherine (Kelly) Gillingham born 16 June 1901 in Glenwood NL.
He joined the RNR 19 April 1917 before his 16th birthday !!
He left St. John’s on the 19 May 1917 for France....
On Sept.29 1918 he received a shotgun wound to the head and was sent from the hospital in France to the London Military Hospital in Clapton....
He was discharged from the hospital on Dec.04 1918.
On 27 March 1919, he was discharged from the Royal Newfoundland Regiment
and granted a war service gratuity....
Maurice served from the 19 April 1917 - 29 March 1919..
He married Monica Blackmore and they had 3 children... Leo, Maude and Mary....
He remarried after Monica died to Maude Abbot...

Maurice passed away on Oct.11 1971 in Corner Brook NL.
