Those Who Came After The Original 500

Donated by Tom Lawrance

Norman Boyce was a student in St. John’s at his Attestation 3 July 1916.
He embarked at St. John’s aboard S.S. Sicilian for UK August 28, 1916. Norman attained the rank of Lance Corporal
He was wounded on two occasions and was discharged 17 May 1919.
His father, Daniel Boyce was a merchant in Jersey Harbour and according to business directories Norman, on his return from the war,
ran the business with his brother Chesley.

This appears to be written to Evelyn Hann and references Elsie Hann, both daughters of Emily Hann.

From The Arcade Photo Studio, Ayr
8 Newmarket Street, Ayr, Oct 27/ 1916

Dear Miss Hann,- No doubt you will think me lost,
for not dropping you a line before but since reaching this
side we have been kept rather busy. Do you think you would
know the face on the opposite side of this.
Tell Miss Elsie I will send her one in Kilt.
Remember me to your Mother.
Hope you are all well. Write me.

Bye Bye. Norman.
