Alexander enlisted on 2nd September 1914. He was one of the original First 500 or Blue Puttees.
He was demobilized in St. John's on 29th May 1919.
After the war, he graduated from the University of Guelph as a veterinarian.
He returned to St. John's and worked in that capacity until shortly before his death on the 12th September 1954.
