Will of Alfred George Young
from the Newfoundland will books volume 12 page 152 probate year 1922

In re Alfred George Young.      DECEASED.

To all whom it may concern Greeting I the undersigned realising that my physical faculties are failing and life uncertain feel it my duty to express in writing my desires as to the disposal of my humble estate after my decease

  • FIRST I desire that any debts or expenses incurred on my account be paid
  • SECOND That my wife Mary Jane Young who has done her full share in the work of accumulating what little we possess shall have and possess our entire estate consisting of Money, bonds, lands, buildings and all moveable property of every kind and nature whatsoever belonging to said estate the same to be used and controlled or if need be disposed of, for her benefit and comfort as long as she lives.
  • THIRD that after my wifes decease the residue of the estate shall be divided equally between our seven children for their sole use and benefit or that of their children.
  • FOURTH that for the due execution of the foregoing provisions I hereby appoint my daughter Mabel C. Young as sole executrix of this my last will and testament.
  • FIFTH that this writing by my own hand be accepted without question as binding on all concerned without recourse to the usual forms of law

Note: The wills in those will books are NOT actual wills. They are hand-written copies of a, "last will and testament," written by the court clerk, after the death of the testator, when the executor presented them to the court for probate. The court clerk didn't list the signatures at the bottom, he (or she) just put them in the book in whatever order they were in, on the original document, no spacing most of the time, no punctuation. The originals were kept by the executor.

We who have typed these wills, have made every effort to include all the errors that were on the microfilm, in order to avoid destroying the integrity of the originals, where ever they may be.
