Will of Richard Shaw Wood
from Newfoundland will books volume 9 pages 165-167 probate year 1910

In re
      Richard Shaw Wood          deceased.

      In and on this sixteenth day of October in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred ninety nine    I Richard Shaw Wood of “Basco Manor” in the Island of Bermuda and of “Woodholme in the Township of London County of Middlesex Province of Ontario and Dominion of Canada Gentleman and in the Communion of the Holy Catholic Church of England    Do first annul and make void all previous wills and Testaments made by me and do declare this to be my last will and Testament and do appoint The London and Western Trusts Co. of Canada as Executors general to this my last will and Testament    I have also appointed my present agents Mesr Middleton & Co of 66 Broad St. New York as Executors and agents for such estate as I may possess at the time of my death in the United States of America to account for the same to my aforementioned Canadian executors
First cash in hand and Bank also proceeds of sale of Live stock &c to be used a portion paid to my daughter Anna Burgess Shaw Wood as provision for family needs the remainder to pay such debts and liabilities as shall be due The Loans received from the Freehold Loan and Savings Co and the Imperial Loan and Investment Co of Toronto also a Loan from Mesr. Pellett and Pellett of Toronto on Freehold stock to be paid by the unappropriated half of Dividends received from Middleton & Co of New York until these loans shall be fully repaid after which the aforesaid half shall be applied to the reduction of the mortgages now existing on my real estates and when these shall have been discharged the aforesaid half of Dividend to be distributed as follows
First Half one eighth to her sole use and benefit free from the control or interference of her husband E. J. Ogden namely my eldest daughter Sarah Shaw Wood Ogden for her life only as per my New York directions
      To my eldest son Benjamin Shaw Wood One sixteenth of said Dividend also the Farm called “Annandale” and my quarter part of the Newfoundland estate To his wife Mary Simpson Wood (so long as she remains his wife) one sixteenth of aforesaid Dividend to her sole use and benefit To the three children of the said Benjamin and Mary namely Richard Johnston Shaw Wood Isabelle Johnston Shaw Wood and Joseph Burch Shaw Wood    I give one sixteenth of said Dividend to be used for their maintenance and education
To my son Robert Orr Shaw Wood    I give the Farm named “Fruithill” and one sixteenth of the Dividend from the New York Estate
To my youngest daughter Anna Burgess Shaw Wood I give my Bermuda Estate “Bosco Manor” and appurtenances my half of the Trinidad property my quarter of the Grenada property for and during her life and at her death the same to go to my grandson Joseph Burch Shaw Wood     I also give her my Residence of “Woodholme” for her life and at her death the same to go to my grandson Richard Johnston Shaw Wood    I also give her the shares of stock in the Freehold Loan and Savings Co and the shares of the Imperial Loan and Investment Co    I give for her life and at her death the same namely of the Imperial L. Co Investment Co to go to my Grand-daughter Isabelle Johnston Shaw Wood for her sole use and benefit     I also give my aforesaid daughter Anna the shares of stock in my name in the Financial Trust Mining of Rosaland of Personals I give - To my daughter “Anna Burgess” my mothers Bed room set wardrobe Bedstead washstand black walnut Bureau Dressing table also the Drawing room set Black wood green upholstered marble top side board and oak chairs also the Gorcham plated ware from my mothers Estate she already has the furniture from my Aunt Anna Burgess Shaw Estate The oak set belonging to my daughter Elizabeth Burch Wood I give to my grand-daughter Isabelle Johnstoun Shaw Wood also the square piano now at Annandale The rest of furniture Heirlooms to remain at “Woodholme” in the possession and care of my daughter Anna Burgess Shaw Wood also my papers keys &c. my aforesaid grandchildren are my residuary Legatees on this Sixteenth day of October Eighteen hundred and ninety nine I have set my hand and seal    Richd. Shaw Wood (seal)     In presence of J. P. Moore of the City of London Ontario Solicitor     C. E. Jarvis of the City of London Clerk
