Having joined the 80th year of my age, feeling my health fast failing and not knowing how soon God may call me hence, I have thought it only right to express my wishes relative to the disposal after my death of any property I may be possessed of: I therefore bequeath - to my son John Wm Withers, the sum of five hundred pounds in Union Bank deposits, also the hotel and landed property at Portugal Cove, including the mortgage of late Martin Bulger. - also the entire of the printing materials used in the Gazette Office; and also the whole of my household furniture and effects excepting parts of it claimed by Marion Withers. To my daughter Marion Withers, I bequeath in her own right one thousand pounds, £500 of which in Govt. Debentures, and £500 in Union Bank deposits. To the Revd. Henry Dunfield in trust for his son (my grandson) (I.C.W. Dunfield) the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds of life insurance moneys. To Edward M. Heal of London Canada, in trust for his son John Withers Heal, the sum of one hundred and twenty five pounds ($500) loaned by me to the said E. M. Heal. Registrar B I hereby certify that with the following exceptions and alterations my will and testament dated 24th June 1882, is correct and agreeable to my wishes J. C. Withers - 7th May 1888- The bequest of £250 to Revd H. Dunfield (for the education of his son) John C. W. Dunfield but I wish him to consult with the exr. and executrix of my will as to the time and place of Jack's going to school. The amount of money loaned by me to Edward M. Heal to be paid by him to his son John W Heal together with 200 dollars cash. The bequest of £50 to the Cathedral Completion fund to be raised to £100 (one hundred pounds). In lieu of £30 to Diocesan Synod say two hundred dollars. To Percy Heal 100 dollars To Johnny Underhay (son of J. C. Underhay of Bay Fortune, P. E. Island. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a correct copy of that portion of the will of late John C. Withers, written on a half sheet of paper attached to first part of the will and marked "B" Registrar.
