Last will and testament
of James Wilson
of St. John's Farmer Deceased. -

In the name of God. Amen.

This is the last will and testament of me James Wilson of St. John's in the island of Newfoundland First out of seven hundred and sixty dollars which I have invested in the Newfoundland Savings Bank I will that the sum of one hundred and sixty dollars be taken for my funeral expenses and for a headstone and railing to my grave Secondly I will that the sum of forty eight dollars be paid out of the said money for a high mass for my soul immediately after my death. Thirdly I will that of the balance two equal parts be made one part to be paid by my executors to the clergy of the Saint John's Diocese for masses for my soul - the other part to be equally divided between the two Roman Catholic Institutions for children namely the Belvidere Orphanage and the Home for boys Villa Nova. I appoint Thomas Fitzgibbon Shopkeeper and James O'Neil Cooper to carry out the intentions of this my last will and testament made published and declared on the fifth day of January Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and eighty eight - James Wilson. Signed published and declared by the said testator as and for his last will and testament on the year and date above written in our presence who in his presence and in presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses the same having been first read over and explained Denis Phelan T. J. Murphy Solicitor.
