NOTE

We have found that the copy of the "Wills Index" that the Archives has on file and the one that Probate has on file do not match up on the Volume and file number. There is check presently being done to see if there is anything that can be done about this. As soon as any further information is found, it will be posted on this page. If there is no way this can be changed then we will remove the Vol and file numbers to avoid confusion for people. The information on these pages came from the "Newfoundland Wills Index" microfilm. There are a total of 13,457 entries. Each entry was hand written. I had particular trouble reading middle initials, for example the difference between F and T. An asterisk indicates an entry that was difficult to read and therefore the accuracy is suspect. There may be mistakes on these pages so look for typos. Do not treat the data presented here as a primary source of information for your research. You must verify any information you find here by referring to the original documents. As part of your research you should also check the "Acts Books" and "Estate Files" microfilms listed below. Caution: Some of these pages are large (up to 100K). NOTE: If the actual will has been provided, the surname will be a link that will show the actual will. If there are any of you reading this page that have copies of any wills not posted, please send them in and I will be glad to add them to this transcribed collection of wills.
