Will of Thomas Whitten
from Newfoundland will books volume 13 pages 71-72 probate year 1925

In re
      THOMAS WHITTEN.     DECEASED.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Whitten Fisherman of Petty Harbor in the Electoral District of Saint Johns West

First - I desire that all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses be paid out of my Estate.

Second - I appoint my son William J Whitten and Henry J W Bishop, Executors of this my will.

Third - I give devise and bequeath to my wife Jane Whitten my dwelling-house & furniture etc together with two small gardens & outhouse all near the dwelling-house for the term of her natural life, also that piece of land at Second Pond containing three acres more or less and all monies of which I shall die possessed

Fourth - I give devise and bequeath to my son William J Whitten my part of the fishing property which I at present occupy together with, boats nets, traps and all gear belonging to the fishery

Fifth - I desire that at the death of my wife Jane Whitten that my dwelling house become the property of my daughter Henrietta Chafe and that the furniture beds & bedding be divided as equally as possible between my son William J Whitten and Henrietta Chafe

Witness my hand at Petty Harbor this Sixteenth day of December A D One thousand nine hundred and twenty-four

Signed published and declared by the said Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in our presence who in the presence of the said Testator and of each other all present at the same time have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses (the said will having been first read over to and approved by the said Testator) as and for his last will and testament
