Will of Edward Warren from Newfoundland will books volume 14 pages 345-346 probate year 1928.
Written above the testator's wife's name in each of 4 places in this will, were the initials of the solicitor who drew up the will and the letters DE, ie "JAWW Mc D E."

      EDWARD WARREN.

THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of me Edward Warren of St. John's Cooper

  1. I revoke all wills heretofore by me made.
  2. I appoint my daughter, Minnie Amanda Warren, sole executrix of this my last will and testament.
  3. I give, devise and bequeath to my daughter, Minnie Amanda, all my shares in Mutual Theatre Company Limited and Canadian Maritime Motion Picture Company Limited, absolutely
  4. I give, devise and bequeath all my property both real, personal and chattels real, of which I shall die possessed or entitled to, except the said shares in Mutual Theatre Company Limited and Canadian Maritime Picture Company Limited, unto my said executrix, Minnie Amanda Warren, Upon Trust, to hold the same and,
    (a) To pay to my wife Elizabeth Warren, during the term of her natural life, all the rents, issues and profits arising therefrom and,
    (b) Upon the death of the said Elizabeth Warren my house No 129 Southside Road, together with the room in No 127 Southside Road, now used as a shop, which is connected by a doorway with No 129, and also my house No 125 Southside Road are to be come the absolutely property of my daughter Minnie Amanda Warren. In addition to the above bequest, all the household furniture and effects now contained in my house No 129 Southside Road, upon the death of her mother, shall become the property of my daughter, Minnie Amanda Warren.
    ( c) Upon the death of my said wife, Elizabeth Warren my house No 127 Southside Road, save and except the shop hereinbefore mentioned, and my house No 123 Southside Road, are to be held by my Executrix, Upon Trust, to pay to my daughter, Emily F. Knight, wife of Frederick W. Knight, the rents, issues and profits arising therefrom, during the term of the natural life of the said Emily F. Knight. The said Emily F. Knight, whilst only having a life interest in the said houses, shall have power to dispose of them amongst such of her children as she shall choose, but in no event shall she have power to take testamentary disposition in favour of her husband, Frederick W. Knight. Should the said Emily F. Knight die without making testamentary disposition of the said houses hereinbefore described, upon the death of the said Emily F. Knight, the said houses shall become the property of her children share and share alike.
    (d) Upon the death of my said wife, Elizabeth Warren, all the rest, residue and remainder of my property shall be divided between my daughters, Minnie Amanda Warren, and Emily F. Knight, equally share and share alike. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 12th day of May A.D. 1923.

SIGNED PUBLISHED and DECLARED by the Testator, as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other and at his request have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.

This is a Codicil to my last will and testament dated the 12th day of May 1923. I revoke par 4 (d) of my said will and add the following as para 5 & 6 to my will.
5. Touching the property devolving upon me by reason of the death of my wife Eliza Warren intestate I give devise and bequeath the stone house No 131 Southside heretofore owned by her but now by me to my daughter Minnie Amanda Warren absolutely. I give devise and bequeath to my granddaughter Loonie Coultas the dwelling house No 353 Southside absolutely.
6. All the rest residue and remainder of my estate I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Minnie Amanda Warren, otherwise I confirm my said last will and testament of May 12th 1923.
In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name at St. John's this 8th day of October 1928.
