Will of John Warford
from Newfoundland will books volume 8 pages 512 to 515 probate year 1908

In re
      John Warford          deceased.

      In the name of God Amen I John Warford formerly of Burnt Head Conception Bay but now living at Upper Gully South Shore Conception Bay Newfoundland 56 years, being in perfect health and of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and Testament. I give and bequeath to my two sons Isaac and John that piece of land that is bounded on the north by land that I intend giving to my son Abram, south by the Main road. East by Charlie Coates land and west by local road leading to the waterside.

To my son Abram I give and bequeath the land that his dwelling house is on, bounded as follows, North by land I intend giving to the three sons of my late son William South by land I have given my sons Isaac and John East by Charlie Coatis land and west by local road.

I give and bequeath to the three sons of my late son William to be divided equally between them and for the support of the widow and children of my late son William the following piece of land that is bounded as follows North by land    I intend giving my son Abram as far north as the center of the chimney in my dwelling house south by land that I have given my son Abram East by Charlie Coatis land and west by local road my late son Williams dwelling house & stable being on the said piece of land- The widow of my late son William is to have the benefit of the land and to get her support from the produce of the land while she is alive and remains in the name of my late son William Warford and also have the benefit of the land hereinafter mentioned that I intend giving and bequeathing to my late son Williams three sons

I give and bequeath to my son Abram that piece of land that is bounded on the north by land I intend giving to the three sons of my late son William south by the land I have given to the three sons of my late son William from the center of my chimney east by David Coatis land and west by local road.

I give and bequeath to the three sons of my late son William that piece of land that is bounded on the north by land I intend giving my son Isaac south by land I have given my son Abram East by David Coatis land and west by local road

I give and bequeath to my son Isaac that piece of land that is bounded, on the north by land I intend giving my son John, south by land I have given to the three sons of my late son William East by Coatis land and west by local road.

To my son John I give and bequeath that piece of land that is bounded as follows North by land I intend holding possession of until my death for my support - south by land I have given my son Isaac. East by Coatis land and west by local road.

To my son Isaac I give and bequeath that piece of land that is bounded on the north by Ann Warford’s land south by my land East by the “horse yard” and west by local road.     After my death my son Abram is to take possession of that piece of land that I am keeping for my support and is bounded as follows. North, by the waterside south by land I have given my son John, East by Ann Warfords land and west by Patience Warford’s land.

My land that is south of the main road in the country that is not Cultivated is to be divided into three shares between my three sons John, Isaac & Abram The said land is bounded on the north by Joseph Taylors land south by John Dawes land East by local road & west by local road.

The land that was fenced by my late son William, his three sons are to take possession of my sons John, Isaac & Abram are not to have anything to do with it.

After my death my son John is to take possession of the land that is cultivated that will come into his strip when the said land is divided -

The fence is mine and when the land is divided my son Abram is to take it to fence off his part of the ground The land where I had my old house which is now a cabbage garden. I give and bequeath to my son Abram. I give and bequeath to my son Abram half of my stage and half of my wharf and to my sons Isaac & John I give and bequeath the other half of my stage and wharf.

The shell of my dwelling house the frame and board is to be divided between my three sons Isaac, John & Abram but I am taking the inside ceiling boards for my son Abram to build a stable with. I give my herring net to my son Abram. I give and bequeath my spinning wheel to my daughter Patience Petten wife of Jacob Petten. I give and bequeath to my son Abram my horse and the sheep that I may possess at my death. All the articles I brought with me when I came to live with my son Abram including my bed and bedding is to remain in my son Abram’s house after my death if he supports me and I die with him. My grindstone is for the use of my three sons. My son Abram is to fence off the well - and I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke, and disannul all and every other former Testaments, wills and Bequests by me in anywise before named, willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and no other, to be my last will and Testament
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and seal this 19th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and two (sgd) John his X mark Warford (LS)    Signed Sealed published, pronounced and declared by the said John Warford (having been first read over) as his last will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence, and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses (sgd) Francis F. Furneaux Justice of the Peace (sgd) Charles Andrews
