Last will and Testament
of John Walsh
of St. John's Publican Deceased
.

This is the last will and testament of me John Walsh of St. John's Licensed Publican. First I will that all my testamentary and funeral expenses and all my lawful debts be paid by my executor out of my estate. Secondly I will and bequeath to my well beloved wife Catherine Walsh all my property consisting of dwelling house and furniture, shop and stock, stable and implements and all the premises mentioned and described in a lease from the Honourable Philip T. Little as Executor of late Dr. Fleming to me bearing the date of the 24th day of August one thousand eight hundred and eighty nine to have and enjoy the same forever while she remains a widow but should my said wife Catherine marry after my death then all the said dwelling house shop stable and leasehold premises shall be sold and one half the purchase money thereof shall be placed in the Savings Bank of Newfoundland to the credit of the Roman Catholic Bishop of St. John's or his successor in office to be employed in masses for my soul and the other half of said purchase money shall be handed over for the use and benefit of my wife Catherine to do with the same as she may desire. I appoint John Carew of Saint John's undertaker as executor of this my last will and testament John Walsh Signed published and declared by the said testator to and for his last will and testament on this third day of February A.D. 1890 in our presence who in his presence and in presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses John Carew, F. J. Murphy.
I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and testament of John Walsh.
