Will of George Veitch

In re
      GEORGE VEITCH          deceased.

      In the name of God Amen.    I George Veitch of the town of Holyrood Electoral District of Harbor Main Hotel Keeper being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make publish and declare this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills and testamentary dispositions heretofore at any time by me made.    I hereby give devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Ann Veitch (1) All those pieces of land lying between the “Scraps” or “Ridge” and the waters of the harbor (2) All my dwelling house household furniture and household effects (3) All my Cellar, store and dairy and one-half my Barn, and (4) Six head of cattle, all my sheep, pigs and poultry to have and to hold during her life and to will and dispose of to who best deserves and merits from her.
      I hereby give devise and bequeath to my son William Veitch (1) All that piece of land situate between the “Scraps” or “Ridge” and “Lewis’ Road” (2) One half my land situate on the “Mountain” and (3) one-half my barn.
      I hereby give devise and bequeath to my son John Veitch now of New York, U.S.A. (1) All my land situate on Salmonier Road and (2) one-half my land situate on the “Mountain” with the provision and stipulation that should my son John Veitch fail to return within thirty years to take possession of his inheritance his legacy shall fall to my son William Veitch.
      I hereby bequeath one hundred dollars for Masses; namely sixty dollars to be devoted to the repose of my own soul and forty dollars to be devoted to the repose of my wife Ann Veitch’s soul.    I hereby appoint Capt John Lewis and John Kennedy executors of my last will and testament.     In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand this eleventh day of July A.D. 1912.    George Veitch     Signed by the said testator as his last will and testament in the presence of us present at the same time who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses Thomas H. Dwyer    James J. Maloney     I hereby appoint R. Dwyer Manager & Custodian of the will and probate papers and when the will be probated as it must be it must not be advertised in the Press.    I also will order and direct that my son William is to work his mother’s land concurrently with his own.     George Veitch    Witnesses Thomas R. Codicil    This is a codicil to the last will and testament of me George Veitch of Holyrood District of Harbor Main Hotel Keeper which bears date July the eleventh A.D. 1912 Whereas by my said will I have given legacies to my beloved wife Ann Veitch now deceased I hereby revoke the said legacies to her given and give devise and bequeath them all and singular to my beloved son William Veitch instead.     I also give devise and bequeath to Right Rev. Monsignor Veitch forty dollars for Requiem Masses for my own and wife’s Ann Veitch’s soul and sixty dollars for High and Low Masses for our souls (wife & Mine) additional.    I appoint Richard Dwyer, sole executor and in all other respects I do confirm my said will.     In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 22nd day of November A.D. 1913.     George Veitch. Witnesses Richard Dwyer    Matthew Hawco.
