Will of John Turner In re In the name of God Amen this
is the last will and testament of me John Turner of Saint John’s
in the Island of Newfoundland Planter I desire that
as soon as practicable after my death all my landed property with the
buildings and erections thereon should be sold and the proceeds thereof
together with my other monies shall be held by my Executor hereafter
named for the following purposes after payment of all my debts funeral
and testamentary expenses the sum of one hundred dollars for Masses for
the repose of my soul to be paid when in what manner and to whom as my
Executor shall decide Subject
to the above bequests I desire that the rest residue and remainder
of my Estate of every description be held by my Executor for the use
of my wife Julia Turner during her life time or whilst she remains unmarried
should she marry again whatever monies my Executor may hold belonging
to my Estate are to be disposed of as follows To my nephew Thomas
Turner son of Daniel Fifty dollars and the remainder in equal shares to the
Roman Catholic Bishop for the time being of Saint John’s the Roman
Catholic Bishop of Harbor Grace for the time being To Rev.
Monsignor Veitch or the Roman Catholic Priest for the time being at Conception
Harbor and to Rev G. S. Battcock or the Roman Catholic
Priest for the time being Whitbourne. These bequests are conditioned
on the legatees celebrating Masses for the repose of my Soul Certified correct, (Listed in the margin next to this will the following)
