Last will and Testament
of Aaron Tilley
of Upper Shoal Harbour Mill-owner Deceased
.

In the name of God, Amen! I Aaron Tilley of Upper Shoal Harbour Random Trinity Bay Newfoundland being of sound mind do make this my last will and Testament: I give and bequeath unto my only daughter Lizzie Ann Butler of Upper Shoal Harbour aforesaid, my dwelling house and furniture, together with all utensils, tools and implements of every description, also the store and stable and other outbuildings, together with all cattle and other live stock. I also give to my only daughter Lizzie Ann Butler, aforesaid, all the land cultivated by me at Upper Shoal Harbour, and also the two parcels of land owned by me, and situate at Main Point and Red Beach, respectively. I give to Caleb Tuck and Seth Palmer, a plot of marsh land at Upper Shoal Harbour, which is bounded on the north by the local road, on the south by the salt water, on the east by land owned by John Tilley, and on the west by my property at the old Dock - the said Caleb Tuck is to have the western half and the said Seth Palmer the eastern portion. The plot of land now occupied by the widow and family of the late John Barnes, at Upper Shoal Harbour is to continue in the undisturbed use of the widow and of her youngest son Joseph Barnes, so long as they may live but at their decease, the land shall revert and fall back to my only daughter, Lizzie Ann Butler. I likewise give unto Caleb Tuck, aforesaid, the land at present occupied by him, and which his dwelling house and other buildings are erected. I give and bequeath unto the said Caleb Tuck one third interest in the saw mill and all its appurtenances, together with the timber; and other lands owned by me at Upper Shoal Harbour, and not otherwise disposed of. The other remaining two thirds of my interest in the saw mill with its appurtenances and lands aforesaid. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Lizzie Ann Butler, in consideration of which she is hereby charged with the duty of ministering to the necessities and comforts of my beloved and long afflicted wife should she survive me. I also hereby appoint James S. Butler and Caleb Tuck the sole executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have on this the fourteenth day of October in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and eighty two set my hand and seal Aaron Tilley (L.S.)
