Will of Rev. William Swann from Newfoundland will books volume 14 pages 418-419 probate year 1929

In re       DECEASED.
      REV. WILLIAM SWANN.

I William Swann of Cupids in the electoral district of Port-de-grave Newfoundland, Minister of the United Church of Canada, do hereby revoke all testamentary dispositions made by me, and declare this to be my last will. I appoint The Eastern Trust Company of St. John's Newfoundland to be the executors of this my last will. I direct that my executors after defraying all legal expenses and paying my lawful debts, shall as soon as possible after my decease pay the legacies and distribute the effects as herein stated.
I bequeath to the board of Trusts of the Newfoundland Conference of the United Church of Canada the sum of one thousand dollars ($1000) in the united Towns Electric Light Company Bonds, which are held for safe keeping by The Bank of Montreal St. John's Nfld. for safe investment by the said board of Trusts, the interest derived therefrom to be paid annually to the Governing Body of the United Church College, situated at Longs Hill St. John's Newfoundland to form two scholarships of equal value to be known as the Jane Swann scholarships and paid annually to the students in the Intermediate, Junior Associate Grades or their equivalents who shall have gained the highest number of marks in the college past lists during the preceding year.
I bequeath to Annie M. Serrick wife of Alexander Serrick of Cupids Nfld the sum of Six hundred dollars $600.00 to be paid out of my loan of one thousand dollars ($1000) to the trustees of Gower Street Church St. John's Nfld.
I bequeath to the Governing body of the United Church Orphanage at St. John's Nfld two hundred dollars ($200.00).
I bequeath to the Superannuation Fund (Ministers etc) of the United Church of Canada to be paid to the General Treasurer or Treasurers of that fund residing in Canada the sum of two hundred dollars ($200.00).
I bequeath to Ian M., Dorothy and Sadie, son and daughters of Alexander and Annie M. Serrick of Cupids one hundred dollars ($100.00) each.
I bequeath to William Claude Swann Serrick now residing at Channel Nfld the remainder of my loans (after other legacies etc have been paid) OF three thousand and seventy five dollars and ten cents ($3075.10) to the Church & Parsonage Aid Society of the former Methodist Church, now the United Church of Canada, the receipts for which are signed by the late Rev. M. S. Griffin D.D. also to the same William Claude Swann Serrick the residue & remains of any monies that may invested or deposited in my name in any funds or banks my current account is with the Bank of Nova Scotia St. John's Nfld and savings account with the Bank of Montreal St. John's Nfld. To the same William Claude Swann Serrick I bequeath my watch, typewriter, book case & its contents, the book of knowledge 20 volumes and any other books that he may select from my library.
The remainder of my books I bequeath to Alexander Serrick of Cupids.
My personal effects, clothing and furniture not herein named and any monies that may be in my possession at the time of my decease I bequeath to the aforementioned Annie M. Serrick.
Should any of the legatees named in this will predecease me I direct that his or her legacy shall be paid to his or her legal successor.
In witness hereof I have hereto set my hand at Cupids this 20th day of April A.D. 1928.
