Will of Lawrence Sullivan
from Newfoundland will books volume 10 pages 320-321 probate year 1915

In re
      LAWRENCE SULLIVAN       deceased.

      The last will and testament of me Lawrence Sullivan of Caplin Bay. I revoke all other wills by me heretofore made.    I direct all my debts funeral and testamentary expenses as soon as conveniently may be after my decease.    I appoint my sons Richard & Martin executors of this my will.    I give devise and bequeath to my son Joseph the land & building thereon on the East side of the River at Stone Island;    to my son Martin the land next to that, on the south side of Stone Island, of one Wade;    to my sons Martin & Joseph as tenants in common the land between the Pond and the main road; to my sons John & Richard as tenants in common the land opposite the land last mentioned and situated between the sea & the main road.    I also give devise & bequeath the dwelling house which I now occupy and the kitchen garden & the meadow to my wife for her life and after her death to my daughter Kate Sullivan and to my son Joseph also any land on the North side of Caplin Bay which he may have cleared at the time of my death.
      I also give devise and bequeath to my sons Richard and Martin all my fishing room & premises, stores flakes boats traps & fishing gear to hold the same as tenants in common the same never to be sold mortgaged or divided.    It is my will and desire that in the conduct of the business Richard shall be skipper of the traps and Martin shall be skipper of the boat and that my son Joseph while he shall not own any of the property in this clause mentioned shall be entitled to share equally in the profits if he gives his services thereto and agrees to contribute equally to any losses which may be incurred. All the residue of my property as well as any money of which I may die possessed I leave to my daughter Kate Sullivan.     Dated this 10th day of October 1911.     Lawrence his X mark Sullivan     Signed by the testator & acknowledged by him to be his last will & testament in our presence who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other present at the same time have subscribed the same as witnesses (having been first read over & explained & understood) Martin W. Furlong.     L. Edward Emerson.
