Will of Philip Strickland from Newfoundland will books volume 14 pages 273-274 probate year 1928

In re            DECEASED.
PHILIP STRICKLAND.

This is the last will and testament of me Philip Strickland of Lakes Brook in the Electoral District of Burgeo and La Poile in the island of Newfoundland, Retired Fisherman.
First: - I appoint my daughter Alice Maud Strickland to be sole Executrix of this my last will and testament.
Second: - I direct that after my death all my funeral expenses and other debts due by me shall be immediately paid out of my estate.
Third:- I direct that a monument not to exceed one hundred dollars in value plus cost of freight and erection be placed at my grave in the New Cemetery of the Church of England at Port-aux-Basques.
Fourth:- I direct that should my health not permit me to do so in lifetime my said executrix shall give a valid bill of sale of the land on which the dwelling house of my daughter Rachael Lurena Poole is situated, according to the boundaries shown by the stakes now driven into the said land.
Fifth:- I hereby direct my said executrix to sell what remains of my land at Lakes Brook aforesaid and to divide the proceeds between my said four daughters share and share alike.
Sixth:- I give devise and bequeath that all the cash deposited in the Channel Branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia, be divided between my four daughters Rachael Lurina Poole, Alice Maud Strickland, Josephine Mary Strickland, and Pathenia Annie Squarey share and share alike, and revoke all previous wills by me at any time heretofore made and declare this writing to be my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I hereto set my hand this Eleventh day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and twenty six.
