Last will and Testament
of William St. Croix
of St. Mary's Trader Deceased

Know all men by these present that I William St. Croix of St. Mary's in the Southern District of the Island of Newfoundland Planter and Justice of the Peace for said Southern District, being of sound disposing mind and memory, do make this my last will and Testament.
1. I bequeath my soul to God and my body to the earth
2. I bequeath and devise to my son Stanislaus and son Albert Joseph, the plantation and premises situate at St. Marys afsd. With all the water privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging, the said plantation being commonly called and known by the name of Ridouts Room and which estate had been conveyed by deed signed sealed and delivered by me to my dear brother Peter St. Croix for a consideration in trust for my said dearly beloved sons Stanislaus and Albert Joseph. It is my sincere and earnest wish that the premises in St. John's known as that of Messrs Job Brothers & Co Merchant in case of my demise, shall take possession of the estate aforementioned for the sum of two hundred dollars is to be applied to the maintenance and education of my children.
4. I devise to my dear mother Mary Patrick St. Croix my mare, carriage sleigh and harness thereunto belonging
5. I give and bequeath the sum of about seven hundred dollars deposited in the Newfoundland Savings Bank in the name of my demised and lamented wife Honora to my two daughters named Mary Ellen and Frances now residing with me for their sole and especial benefit.
6. I give and bequeath to my youngest son William in case of my demise the sum of one thousand dollars being the amount of insurance effected on my life in the Etna Life Insurance Company of Hartford Connecticut, with the proviso that the sum of two hundred and eighty dollars or thereabouts, honourable debts contracted by me should be paid from said sum of one thousand dollars.
7. I wish that the craft in my possession to wit "Ivanhoe" "Nimble" "Isabella" and "Ransome" with all the gear and appurtenances appertaining to said craft shall be given up to Meprs Job Brothers and Co of St. John's, together with all the traps and leaden and all connected therewith, with all the stock in trade shall also be delivered up to said Meprs Job Brothers & Co.
8. I give the house and fishing room at Holyrood St. Marys to my brother Peter St. Croix to have and to hold the same for the term or space of fourteen years for his use and behoof for that period then to devolve to my sons Stanislaus and Albert Joseph, aforementioned
9. I ordain and appoint my brother Peter St. Croix as executor of this my last will and Testament In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal and publish and declare this to be my last will and Testament in the presence of the witness named in the adjoining sheet, this fifth day of September 1889. Wm. St. Croix (L.S.) Signed sealed and declared by the said William St. Croix as and for his last will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other, have, subscribed our names as witnesses thereto Edward McLaughlin John Devine.
