Will of Norah Staunton from Newfoundland will books volume 14 pages 449-450 probate year 1929

In re       DECEASED.
NORAH STAUNTON.

I, Norah Staunton of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland, spinster hereby revoke all former wills codicils and testamentary dispositions heretofore made by me and declare this to be my last will and testament.

  1. I appoint the Royal Trust Company St. John's afsd, to be the executor of this my will
  2. I give devise and bequeath unto Mrs Kate Kavanagh wife of Patrick J Kavanagh of St. John's aforesaid my land and dwelling house situate on the East Side of Cochrane Street in St. John's aforesaid and at present occupied by me for her own use and benefit absolutely.
  3. I give devise and bequeath unto my executor my two pieces or parcels of land and dwelling-house situate on the North side of Gower Street in St. John's aforesaid and numbered respectively ten and twelve together with all and singular my household furniture and effects contained in the dwelling house at present occupied by me all moneys in hand and in Bank and all singular the rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects UPON TRUST to sell call in and convert into money the same or such portions thereof as do not already consist of money as soon as may be deemed advisable after my decease and to stand possessed of the proceeds of such sale calling-in and conversion and of all other moneys belonging to my estate upon and subject to the following trusts, that is to say; (A) to pay all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses; (B) to pay to the Belvedere Cemetery Committee St. John's aforesaid the sum of One Hundred ($100) Dollars for the care maintenance and preservation of the grave monument and burial plot of my father mother sister and myself. ( C) to pay to the Rt Rev Monsignor McDermott of St. John's aforesaid or in the event of his predeceasing (predeceasing) me to the Vicar-general for the time being of the Roman Catholic Cathedral Parish St. John's aforesaid the sum of two hundred ($200) dollars for masses for the repose of my soul and the souls of my father mother and sister; (D) to pay to His Grace the Most Rev E. P. Roche Archbishop of St. John's aforesaid the sum of Four hundred ($400) dollars for his own personal use and benefit absolutely (E) to pay to His Grace the Archbishop of St. John's aforesaid the sum of one thousand ($1000.) Dollars for the use and benefit of the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of St. John's aforesaid; (F) to pay to the Rt Rev Monsignor McDermott of St. John's aforesaid the sum of One thousand ($1000.) Dollars for his own use and benefit absolutely; and (G) to pay and divide the balance remaining over to and between St. Michaels Orphanage, Belvedere aforesaid and Mount Cashel Orphanage St. John's aforesaid equally share and share alike.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto my hand subscribed at St. John's aforesaid this twenty third day of November A.D. one thousand nine hundred and twenty eight.

SIGNED PUBLISHED AND DECLARED by the above named testatrix as and for her last will and testament in our presence who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other all three being present at the same time have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses the said will consisting of two pages of which this is the second page and having been first read over and explained to the said testatrix.
