Will of John Alfred Squires from Newfoundland will books volume 14 page 484 probate year 1929

In re     DECEASED.
JOHN ALFRED SQUIRES.

This being my last will & testament.
In the name of God Amen - John Alfred Squires of st. John's being of perfect at mind of body living memory, and knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die do make this my last will and testament that is to say first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hand of the Almighty God that gave it and my body to the earth for Christian burial. And touching my wordly estate wherewith it hath pleased god to bless me.
First I give devise and bequeath to my oldest daughter Mary Ann Squires Young two hundred and fifty dollars (in cash)
Second I give devise and bequest to second daughter Alexander Edith Squires Warr two hundred and fifty dollars in cash.
Third. I give devise and bequeth to my youngest daughter Emma Margaret Squires five hundred dollars in cash also one bed stead single with bed and bedding.
Fourth. I give devise and bequeath to my only son Walter Edgar Valance Squires the balance of my money he to pay of the all my funeral charges and other bills I also give devise and bequeath to my son Walter Edgar Valance Squires my dwelling house and the land the house is on & the land surrounding it. Also all the furniture and effects and all my real estate. I also appoint my son Walter Edgar Valance Squires to be executor of this my last will and testament.

Witness my hand this twenty second day of March nineteen hundred & twenty nine JOHN ALFRED SQUIRES.
