      JONAS SHEARS       deceased.

      Last will and testament of Jonas Shears    Know all men by these presents that I Jonas Shears residing at Rocky Harbour in the district of St. Barbe in the Island of Newfoundland and having come to the age of seventy-three years and knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die do hereby make provision for my family viz    To my youngest son John William I will & bequeath all my granted land now remaining and whatever houses, outhouses, cattle, sheep etc. may be upon the said land Also my old stage and my part of the new stage Also my Dock upon these conditions viz

1. Should my son Jonas now residing in Quebec return to the old Homestead he shall have his half of the granted land.    But he shall have no power to claim or sell said land or to claim any profits which may arise out of the sale of any produce from such land unless he shall settle and build on such land
2. That my wife Sushanah shall live with her son William and be maintained by him while she shall remain single

      These presents shall come into effect after my death and not before.    In witness whereof I have this day affixed my mark    Jonas his X mark Shears     Witness Benjamin Parsons    Alexander R. Roberts     Rocky Harbor the 3^rd day of February in the year of our Lord 1909
