In re
James Seward deceased.
This is the last will and Testament
of me James Seward of North River in the District of Port-de-Grave
in the Island of Newfoundland Fisherman.
1. I devise and bequeath to
my nephew Thomas Patrick Seward all the land that I possess,
together with my dwelling house, all my household furniture and effects,
all live stock and farming utensils thereon.
2. Should my wife survive
me she shall have the absolute and exclusive occupancy and use of my said
dwelling house. - household effects and furniture; all live stock and farming
utensils to be sold for the purpose of realizing funds to pay for Masses
for the repose of my soul.
3. My said wife shall also have the exclusive
use of my cabbage garden as well as the above mentioned dwelling house
and furniture (but not to sell anything therefrom) during her life, after
which all said properties, as above shall revert to my said nephew Thomas
Patrick Seward.
4. It is my express wish and command that my
said wife shall not cut any trees or trees from my said cabbage garden.
And I hereby appoint Thomas Seward, my brother, and John
Long (of William) of North River aforesaid as executors to this my last will and Testament.
In witness whereof I have subscribed my name to this as my last will and
Testament: at Harbor Grace in the aforesaid Island this Thirtieth Day of
January A.D. nineteen hundred and thirteen. James his X mark Seward Signed
by the testator as and for his last will and Testament in presence of us
who at his request in his presence and in presence of each other, have
hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses John Casey Leander Parsons
