Will of Thomas Searle
from Newfoundland will books volume 7 page 93 probate year 1901

Last Will and Testament of
Thomas Searle of St. John's
Farmer deceased.

      This is the last will and testament of me Thomas Searle of St. John's farmer.
First I desire my executors hereinafter appointed shall see that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses are duly paid
Second. I hereby appoint Francis C. Payne and Samuel Lay both of St. John's executors of this my last will and I hereby revoke all other and former wills that may have been made by me.
Third. I will devise and bequeath to my son Henry Thomas Searle all my land farm house furniture barns, horses, cows, waggons, carts, sleighs and all and singular the farming utensils on my farm and all other goods and effects which I shall die possessed of It is also my will and desire that my said son Thomas Henry shall not at any time after he becomes possessed of my said land and dwelling house, mortgage, sell, or dispose of the same during his life time, and he shall keep the stock of cattle replenished from time to time and keep the farm in good cultivation and working order. It is also my will and desire that my said executors shall see that my said son Henry Thomas shall permit my sister Mary Searle to reside with him in my said house during her life time and my said son shall support and maintain her in the same manner and condition as she has been maintained and supported by me and at her death my said son shall see that she is decently burried and pay for the same.
Lastly I desire my said executors shall see that the conditions contained in this my last will are carried out by my said son Thomas Henry Searle. In witness whereof I have hereunto set and subscribed my hand this 17th day of January A.D. 1901. (Sgd) Thomas his x mark Searle Signed published and declared by the said testator as and for his last will in our presence who in his presence at his request and in presence of each other have hereto our hands set and subscribed as witness. The said will having been first read over and explained. (Sgd) Francis C. Payne (sgd) Saml Lay. (Sgd) F. J. Morris

      I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and Testament of Thomas Searle deceased
