Last will and Testament of
George A. Scott of St. John's Accountant

This is the last will and Testament of me George Albert Scott of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland Accountant

I will and bequeath to my executor hereinafter named my policy of Life Insurance being number seventeen thousand five hundred and seven in the Confederation Life Insurance Association of Toronto Canada to be applied by him to the purpose of releasing a mortgage held upon my property by Lewis Browning for the sum of one thousand dollars and interest thereon should the sum payable to my executor under the said policy be insufficient to fully pay off the said mortgage indebtedness I desire that the deficit shall be paid out of my Masonic Insurance money.

I will and bequeath all my interest in and to the insurance held by me upon my life in the Masonic Insurance Scheme of St. John's aforesaid to my executor for the purpose of defraying such deficit aforesaid as may remain due under the said mortgage after the sum payable by the Confederation Life Insurance Association under the said policy shall have been applied to the liquidation of the amount due under the said mortgage and also for the payment of my debts and funeral and other expenses and if any further sum be required for any of these purposes I desire it be taken from my residuary estate.

I desire that piece or parcel of land belonging to me situate on LeMarchant Road in the Town of St. John's to be divided into three building lots each having an equal frontage of _______ feet upon the said LeMarchant Road and I will and bequeath the said property as follows: one lot being the lot adjoining the property of the widow of the late James C. Scott to my sister Mrs Dunn the lot adjoining the said lot devised to Mrs. Dunn I devise to my sister Elizabeth Scott and the remaining lot being the lot which is bounded on the south by Lazy Bank Road I devise to my sister Emma Eales Scott.

I give and devise to my brother William J. Scott that piece or parcel of land situate at Mount Scio near St. John's belonging to me and also a piece of land held by me situate at Loumistown near St. John's and also that piece of land containing four building lots situate near St. John's belonging to me and also a piece of land held by me and purchased by me from Thomas W. Sprz.

I desire that the sum of twenty dollars be paid out of my residuary estate with the Savings Bank for my nephew Frederick Scott son of William J. Scott of Twillingate.

I further will and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects to my father and mother equally between them.

I hereby appoint Franklin Hawlin of St. John's executor of this my last will and testament and I bequeath him the sum of eighty dollars for his services as executor the said bequest to be payable out of my residuary estate.

Dated at St. John's aforesaid this 1st day of February A.D. 1888 - G. A.
