In re
ALBERT V. ROSS.
DECEASED.
This is the last will and testament of me, Albert Victor Ross of St. John's
in the Island of Newfoundland, farmer.
I appoint John Clouston of St. John's, Manufacturer, and James F. Pike of St.
John's, my brother-in-law, executors of this my will.
I direct that out of my estate there shall first be paid all my just debts
funeral and testamentary expenses.
I bequeath to my son, Milton, my gold watch.
I direct that my executors shall carry on the business of farming and dairy
formerly carried on by me and apply the profits thereof to the support and
maintenance of my wife while she shall remain unmarried and to the support,
maintenance and education of my children until they shall reach the age of
twenty one years. My executors are empowered to engage the services of a manager
and shall not be personally responsible for any losses that may happen in the
carrying on of the said business.
Upon the death or remarriage of my wife, Louise Ross, my executors shall at
their discretion divide my lands in the following portions: to my daughter,
Jean, three acres of the field known as Western field the said three acres
to front on the main road; to each of my daughters, Helen and Doris two acres
of the portion known as the Goodridge four acres; to my said three daughters
jointly the northerly pasture together with my shack thereon.
The remainder and residue of my lands together with dwelling house, dairy and
all other erections thereon shall go to my son, Milton, for his sole use and
benefit forever.
My household furniture and monies payable under my life insurance policy or
policies shall form part of my general estate, also monies in bank subject
to the following bequests: to the Newfoundland Bible Society two hundred dollars
($200.00); to Hubert Greensland of Long Pond, Conception Bay, one hundred dollars;
to Peter Fagan, Kelligrews, one hundred dollars; to my brother George Ross the sum of three hundred dollars; to George Warford one hundred dollars; to
Victor Clouston one hundred dollars; to Cochrane St. Poor Fund one hundred
dollars.
All my estate I bequeath to my executors in trust for my wife and children
in the same manner as my business that is to say that my wife shall be maintained
and supported therefrom until her death or remarriage and my children until
the youngest shall reach the age of twenty one years.
Upon the death or remarriage of my wife my executors shall subject to the bequests
aforesaid transfer all my estate to my said son, Milton, for his sole use and
benefit forever.
Witness my hand at St. John's this 25th day of May A.D. 1927.

and the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses.

This is a codicil to the last will and testament of me Albert V. Ross, dated
the 25th day of April May 1927 and signed me in the presence
of Charles E. Hunt, John Clouston and James F. Pike.
I direct that my said executors shall pay to the Newfoundland Bible Society
the sum of four hundred dollars instead of two hundred dollars as in the said
will directed, & to my brother George Ross the sum of five hundred instead
of three hundred dollars as in the said will directed. I also direct that in
addition to the legacies mentioned in my said will and this codicil thereto
there shall be paid to the Methodist Orphanage the sum of Four hundred dollars
and to the Permanent Marine Disasters Fund the sum of Two hundred dollars.

as witnesses, the said testator signing the same by making his mark thereto,
the said codicil having first been read over and explained.
