Will of Mary Roberts from Newfoundland will books volume 5 pages 210-212 probate year 1888

Last will and Testament of Mary
Roberts late of Brigus widow deceased.

In the name of God Amen. This last will and testament of me Mary Roberts widow of the late John Roberts of Rattley Row Brigus Newfoundland fisherman was made this fourth day of June A.D. 1886.

  • I give and bequeath to Elfrida daughter of Israel and Mary Ann Roberts the dwelling house and premises situate at Rattley Row Brigus aforesaid
  • I give and bequeath to Henry son of Israel and Mary Ann Roberts the meadow and store.
  • I further bequeath to the aforesaid Henry Roberts the kitchen garden
  • To John son of Israel and Mary Ann Roberts I bequeath the clock now upstairs.
  • To Mary Ann widow of my late son Israel Roberts I bequeath the two leaved table in the kitchen
  • I bequeath to Henry Roberts aforesaid a bed and bedding
  • To Elfrida aforesaid I also bequeath a bed with blanket and quilt together with the looking glass.
  • The big bible I bequeath to Moses Alexander son of my late son Moses Roberts & Margaret his wife.
  • The writing desk I bequeath to John son of Moses and Margaret Roberts
  • I also bequeath a blanket to Moses Alexander Roberts aforesaid son of Moses & Margaret Roberts
  • I further bequeath a quilt to John son of Moses and Margaret Roberts
  • I bequeath a time piece to Miriam daughter of Israel and Mary Ann Roberts
  • To my son John Roberts I bequeath a dish and half a dozen plates
  • To my grandson Henry son of Israel and Mary Ann Roberts I bequeath the Seamans Chest
  • The pew in St. Georges Church Brigus I bequeath to the minister and church wardens of St. Georges Church.

Whatever else may be in the house at the time of my decease & not already mentioned I bequeath to my granddaughter Elfrida Roberts whom I appoint Residuary legatee I appoint Thomas Meaden & Richard Spracklin of Brigus aforesaid as executors of this my last will and Testament & hereby revoking all other wills & testamentary dispositions by me heretofore made I declare this to be my last will and Testament this fourth day of June A.D. 1886 Mary her x mark Roberts. The above will having been read over in the hearing of the Testator and the two attesting witnesses was then signed by the said Mary Roberts as her last will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time who at her request in her presence, & in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
