Last will and testament of Abram
Roberts of Wesleyville Newfoundland I Abram
Roberts, of Wesleyville Newfoundland aged 49 years, being of sound mind
and memory but having regard to the uncertainties of this life, do hereby
make my last will and testament as follows
1. I do hereby give, devise and bequeath my house with the land on which
it stands and by which it is surrounded with all furniture and effects
to my two sons Cecil and Ronald, each to have an equal share- with the
understanding that my wife Isabel is to have a home as long as she remains
a widow, and full use of the house furniture and effects during the same
time.
2. I hereby direct the executors
of this my last will and testament to see that my three daughters Allie,
Ethel and Maud, have each an equal right in my home and in the use of my
property there with my wife and sons so long as they remain unmarried.
3. I do hereby give, devise and bequeath the water-front belonging to me
with the store and all within it along with all fishing gear, including
nets and trap to my family as a whole- boys and girl’s and wife to
have equal rights- with the understanding that should my wife not remain
a widow she loses all interests in the same from the time of her remarriage;
and that after my daughters marry their claims cease and the whole is then
to belong to my two boys Cecil and Ronald who shall share and share alike
in all.
4. I do hereby direct
that my full share of the land obtained by the Roberts’ family through
the Government Grant is to be divided into six equal parts, one part to
be given to my wife Isabel, another to each of my five children In case
however that my wife should remarry her portion shall be added to my children’s
portion- each child having an equal claim. I do hereby appoint my two brothers Peter and Samuel to
be joint and sole executors of this my last will and testament. Dated
and witnessed at Wesleyville this ninth day of November in the year of
our Lord one thousand nine hundred and fifteen. Abram
