of Henry Ridout late of Whale Gulch
Notre Dame Bay. Fisherman.

Will and Testament of Henry Ridout Whale Gulch Notre Dame Bay Newfoundland July 14th 1883
To all to whom these presents may come be it known that I Henry Ridout Whale Gulch Notre Dame Bay Newfoundland and by the blessing of God in a sound state of mind, and now on this fourteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty three. I do give my will and testament as follows.
First I do will and bequeath on my decease to my three sons Reuben, Theophilus and William my stage and room as they now stand, and that my son Theophilus have the privilege of occupying my dwelling house with his family until he secures a house for himself.
Second. I do further will that my that my nets and seine remain as at present namely that all nets on the room be owned by my three sons Reuben Theophilus and William and that my five sons still share in the use and profits of the caplin seine, but that if any three of these five sons wish to take the seine away for ?? they be allowed to do so.
Third. I do will my land over to my wife Dinah and three sons Reuben, Theophilus and William to be used and owned by them as heretofore.
Fourth. I still further will that in case of my decease three hundred pounds Newfoundland currency which I have in hand be divided in six equal parts for my five sons and wife Dinah namely £ 50 each.
Fifth. That in case of my decease the five hundred pounds currency which is my deposit in the Union Bank of Nfld be divided as above in six equal parts among my wife Dinah and five sons namely: £ 83.6.8 each Henry Ridout.
We the undersigned do attach our names as witnesses of the above will. James Peacock Methodist Minister. William his x mark Taylor. Gideon Travers
I certify that the foregoing is a correct copy.
