Will of David Rennie
from Newfoundland will books volume 7 pages 247-248 probate year 1903

The last Will of David Rennie
late of Catalina, merchant, deceased.

      This is the Last Will and Testament of me David Rennie of Catalina in the Northern District of the Island of Newfoundland, Merchant. I hereby revoke all former wills and testamentary dispositions made by me and declare this to be my last will and Testament. I appoint Frederick W. Rennie of St. John's in the Island aforesaid Accountant the Executor of this my last will and Testament. I give devise and bequeath all the property of every description of which I may die possessed unto my said executor upon the following trusts namely:
First. That my said executor shall pay all my lawful and just debts and funeral expenses.
Secondly that out of my said estate my executor shall invest the sum of eight thousand dollars in British Consols or City of London Bonds and shall hold and be possessed of the same upon trust to pay the income thereof to my sister Caroline Harvey wife of Richard Harvey during her life and after her death to convert into moneys the said investments and to divide the proceeds thereof amongst her surviving children share and share alike
And Thirdly to pay the following legacies namely: - the sum of one thousand dollars to himself my executor hereinbefore named and the sum of five hundred dollars to each of the following - my brothers Robert J. Rennie and William H. Rennie and my sisters Emma Withers and Jessie Rothwell
And Fourthly to pay the sum of five hundred dollars to the Church of England Orphanage in Saint John's aforesaid
And to hold and be possessed of the residue of my said estate In trust to devide the said residue equally amongst Caroline Harvey and each of her surviving children if the youngest of the said children shall have attained the age of twenty one years at the time of my decease, if not to pay the income of said residue to my said sister Caroline Harvey until the youngest of the said children shall have attained the age of twenty one years and then to divide the residue amongst my said sister Caroline Harvey and each of her said surviving children share and share alike
In witness whereof I the said David Rennie have hereto subscribed my name this Eleventh day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety eight. D. Rennie. Signed published and declared by the said Testator as and for his last will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses.
