Last Will and Testament of
Stephen Rendell of Coffinswell near
Newton Abbott, Devon England
Merchant deceased.

      This is the last will and Testament of me Stephen Rendell of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland Merchant hereby revoking all former wills and Testaments by me at any time made and specially a will made by me and bearing date the sixth day of January Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and eighty three. - Imprimis I give devise and bequeath to my executors hereinafter named all the estate of which I shall die possessed subject to the trusts devises legacies bequests and conditions hereinafter created devised bequeathed made and expressed that is to say

First for my said executors to realize and convert into moneys so much of my estate as they may deem requisite and necessary for the establishment of a fund and investment to pay to my daughter Charlotte Elizabeth the annual sum of eight hundred dollars during the term of her natural life or until her marriage and in the event of my said daughter being married at the time of my decease or marrying at any time hereafter my said executors shall pay her the sum of Four thousand dollars after which payment all claims as to the said annuity shall cease and the fund or investment from which the said annuity proceeded shall revest in my executors as a portion of my general estate

Second I give devise and bequeath to my daughter Lillian wife of John W. West of St. John's Merchant the sum of Four thousand dollars and it is my will and desire that the said several sums of Four thousand dollars divised in this and in the preceding bequest and one of which is contingently payable upon the marriage of my daughter Charlotte Elizabeth shall be paid to them as soon as may be expedient or practicable having regard to the general interests of my estate the consideration of which I entrust to the discretion of my Executors

Third as to all and singular the rest residue and remainder of my said estate for my said Executors to distribute and divide the same between my sons James Elliott Rendell, Arthur Stephen Rendell Herbert Rendell and Robert George Rendell their executors administrators and assigns share and share alike as tenants in common subject as to the realization of the said rest residue and remainder to the terms and conditions of an agreement or arrangement heretofore made by me with the continuing partners in the firm of "Job Brothers and Company" as to the payments by the said firm as to the amounts due by them to me and for which until the full amount of my claim shall be paid the said firm is to pay interest to me or my estate at the rate of five per cent per annum.

Fourth it is my will and desire that all moneys payable under this will to my said daughters shall be held by them to the sole and separate use of each of them free and independent of the control debts or liabilities of any husband.

Secunds I appoint my sons Arthur Stephen Rendell and Robert George Rendell to be joint executors of this my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this Twenty second day of July Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and eighty nine. (Sgd) S. Rendell Signed by the said Testator as his last will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
