Last Will and Testament of
Catherine Redmond of St. John's
Widow deceased.

      This is the last will and Testament of me Catherine Redmond of St. John's in the Central district widow of James Joseph Redmond of the same place cabman deceased.

1^st I devise and bequeath unto my Grandson James Silvey the house in which I now reside in Coley's Lane.

2^nd I devise and bequeath unto my Grandson Thomas Redmond the downstairs portion of the house in Coley's Lane situate next door to the house in which I now reside.

3^rd I devise and bequeath to my granddaughter Catherine Cole the upstairs portion of the said house in Coley's Lane situate next door to the house in which I now reside.

4^th I leave the sum of forty dollars to cover the expenses of my funeral.

5^th I leave the sum of forty dollars to be expended upon a tombstone to be erected to the memory of myself my husband and family.

6^th I will and bequeath the sum of Twenty dollars to the Reverend John Ryan of St. Patricks Church in St. John's.

7^th I will and bequeath the sum of twenty dollars to the Reverend C. Crook of St. Patrick's Church in St. John's.

8^th The rest residue and remainder of my estate I will and bequeath to my five grandsons the sons of the late Bridget Silvey, namely Patrick Silvey John Silvey, Thomas Silvey, William Silvey and Joseph Silvey share and share alike. And it is my express will and desire that every legacy and bequest made hereunder shall be taken in substitution of and in no wise as in addition to any share or interest which they have or might have in the estate of my late husband James Joseph Redmond.

I appoint the Reverend E. Crook of St. Patricks Church in St. John's to be the executor of this my last will and Testament. Dated at St. John's this 21^st day of February A.D. 1890. (Sgd) Catherine her x mark Redmond Signed Published and declared by the said Catherine Redmond as and for her last will and Testament in the presence of us who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses the said will having been first read over and explained to the said Testatrix.
