Will of Hannah Reardon from Newfoundland will books volume 5 page 425-427 probate year 1889 Last will and Testament of In the name of God Amen. I Hannah Reardon of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland widow do this twentieth day of October A.D. 1883 make publish and declare this to be my last will and Testament. - Firstly I desire to be decently buried and as to my worldly estate and property I give and bequeath in the following manner and form to my daughters Ellen Flaherty wife of Robert Flaherty and Elizabeth Jack, wife of Alexander Jack I give and bequeath, the sum of fifty pounds currency, each - Also to my son the Reverend Vincent Reardon I give and bequeath the sum of fifty pounds currency. I do moreover will that these three aforesaid sums of money to my said daughters and said son be realized from the sale of a government debenture, number 265 owned by me, in the Custom House St. John's Newfoundland said debentures being equal to two hundred and thirty six pounds ten shillings and nine pence, currency. After the payment of the above aforesaid sums to my daughters above mentioned and to my said son, I give and bequeath the balance remaining over and above, after payment of the aforesaid sums, to my executor hereinafter mentioned this aforesaid balance of debenture to be applied for the benefit of my soul and the soul of my deceased husband Denis V.. Reardon in having masses offered, besides other charitable purposes as I shall direct or my executor may deem proper. I do moreover will that the above sum of money namely fifty pounds which I bequeath to my said daughter Ellen Flaherty, shall in no manner be subject to the control of her present husband or any future husband she may have. I also give and bequeath to my said daughter Ellen Flaherty and to my said son the Reverend Vincent Reardon whatever shares or monies, that may be in the Commercial Bank of Newfoundland, and owned by me at the time of my death share and share alike. On the death of my said daughter Ellen Flaherty, whatsoever portion or part of Bank shares willed to her by me in my said estate, shall go to the use and benefit of my said son Reverend V. Reardon and said daughter Elizabeth Jack or to either survivor for ever. It is also my will and request that no portion or part of the Bank Shares, herein mentioned as willed and bequeathed to my said daughter Ellen Flaherty shall ever be sold or mortgaged at any time.
