Last will and Testament of
Hannah Reardon
of St. John's widow Deceased
.

In the name of God Amen. I Hannah Reardon of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland widow do this twentieth day of October A.D. 1883 make publish and declare this to be my last will and Testament. - Firstly I desire to be decently buried and as to my worldly estate and property I give and bequeath in the following manner and form to my daughters Ellen Flaherty wife of Robert Flaherty and Elizabeth Jack, wife of Alexander Jack I give and bequeath, the sum of fifty pounds currency, each - Also to my son the Reverend Vincent Reardon I give and bequeath the sum of fifty pounds currency. I do moreover will that these three aforesaid sums of money to my said daughters and said son be realized from the sale of a government debenture, number 265 owned by me, in the Custom House St. John's Newfoundland said debentures being equal to two hundred and thirty six pounds ten shillings and nine pence, currency. After the payment of the above aforesaid sums to my daughters above mentioned and to my said son, I give and bequeath the balance remaining over and above, after payment of the aforesaid sums, to my executor hereinafter mentioned this aforesaid balance of debenture to be applied for the benefit of my soul and the soul of my deceased husband Denis V.. Reardon in having masses offered, besides other charitable purposes as I shall direct or my executor may deem proper. I do moreover will that the above sum of money namely fifty pounds which I bequeath to my said daughter Ellen Flaherty, shall in no manner be subject to the control of her present husband or any future husband she may have. I also give and bequeath to my said daughter Ellen Flaherty and to my said son the Reverend Vincent Reardon whatever shares or monies, that may be in the Commercial Bank of Newfoundland, and owned by me at the time of my death share and share alike. On the death of my said daughter Ellen Flaherty, whatsoever portion or part of Bank shares willed to her by me in my said estate, shall go to the use and benefit of my said son Reverend V. Reardon and said daughter Elizabeth Jack or to either survivor for ever. It is also my will and request that no portion or part of the Bank Shares, herein mentioned as willed and bequeathed to my said daughter Ellen Flaherty shall ever be sold or mortgaged at any time.
Also I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Jack whatever shares and monies owned by me in the Union Bank of Newfoundland at the time of my death, for her sole use and benefit. Now I give and bequeath to my said daughter Elizabeth Jack all my right title and interest in and to that certain fee simple dwelling house and property now in my possession and situate on the south side of Military Road, St. John's. to have and to hold said dwelling house and premises unto the said Elizabeth Jack, to her sole use and behoof for ever. Item I give and beuqeath to my said son Reverend V. Reardon and said daughter Elizabeth Jack all my right title and interest to and in that dwelling house and premises owned by me and situate on the north side of Water Street, in the afsd. town of St. John's; Also I do hereby will and direct that the Bank shares monies, property or effects herein mentioned or to be mentioned and bequeathed to my said daughters Ellen Flaherty and Elizabeth Jack, shall not in any case, be ever subject to the debts or in anyway under the control or management of their present or any future husband, they or either of them may have.
Finally I give and bequeath to my daughters above mentioned Elizabeth Jack for her sole use and benefit all my silver plate, household goods and household furniture beds and bedding and all my estate whatsoever and not herein mentioned or named, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time made declaring this to be my last will and testament and I do hereby appoint the Reverend Vincent Reardon my sole executor thereof. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at St. John's afsd. the day and year above written Hannah her x mark Reardon (L.S.) Signed by prefixing her mark sealed and declared by the said executrix Hannah Reardon as her last will and Testament who at her request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto Wm. Barr Alexander Jack.
