Last will and Testament
of Ellen Rawlins
of St. John's widow Deceased
.

In the name of God Amen. I Ellen Rawlins of St. John's in the Island of Newfoundland widow do make and publish and declare this to be my last will and Testament. First I give devise and bequeath to my son Edward Rawlins all that double dwelling house in part of which I now reside situate on Military Road, together with all the household furniture now therein, also eleven shares in the Capital stock of the Commercial Bank of Newfoundland. Also shares in the Capital Stock of the St. John's Water Company to the amount of two thousand dollars. Also Newfoundland government debentures to the amount of two thousand three hundred and seven dollars & seventy cents. Third it is my will and desire that my said son Edward do pay to my daughter Mary Joseph Rawlins at present a nun in the Convent at Burin the sum of twenty dollars per year during her lifetime the same to be paid out of the bequests herein made to him. Fourth it is my will and desire that my said son Edward do pay to the children of my late son James Rawlins at present residing in Burrawine South Victoria the sum of four hundred dollars to be divided equally between them I appoint my son Edward Rawlins sole executor of this my last will. In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand this twenty seventh day of August A.D. 1888. Ellen her x mark Rawlins. Signed by the said testatrix by affixing her mark as her last will and testament in the presence of us who in her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have hereto subscribed our names as witnesses. (The same having been first read over and explained) W. G. Dryer Frank J. Morris.
